Building a Computer!

After 8 months of Streaming on 2 Cores, I finally managed to get my Hetro Guy friends: Steve and Chris to take time out of their busy schedules of boning women to assist me with the manliest of manly conquests, Constructing a Man Machine! (Also known as a computer)

We set out around Midday on the Saturday to gather the components for the Man Machine, and settled on the following specs"

i7-2600
60 Gig SSHD
2x 1TB HDD
8 Gig Kingston HyperX Ram
PCI-e GTX 5800 1536 Gigabyte GFX Card
DvD Burner
750W Power Supply
Intel S1155 P67 ASUS P8P67 EVO Motherboard
Coolermaster Case
Windows 7 OEM
Fan w Red Bling Lights for side of case

Drove the components home, but one of the cars broke down, so like men, we stood around the open hood fixing the Engine whilst grunting a expressing out dominance over the machine.

Construction of the computer was fun, something we discovered with the case is that the back side of it (the side you never take off) is actually deep enough to allow us to run all our cables through it, allowing the computer itself to be much cooler, as the cables don't restrict the airflow, I recommend anyone getting a new case to keep an eye on having a cast which has a section to run all your cables, makes a much better machine.

question, why not go for the 2500k? Is it because you don't feel confident with overclocking?

2600 is better for video processing and other non gaming stuff. Both are complete overkill for sc2.

Hmm so u were casting HD on a dual core b4? Thinking of setting up stream for ladder but thought my ol' dual core would mean I could only handle horrible quality!?

I got the same case a few months back. It is a very nice case.

I got an epic heatsink too, it did really well to fit it all in.

Yea, its the one Highlander linked. You can pull out the Hard drive slots if you dont have 5 (lol). We removed it so theres 2 left + the SSHD one, leaving alot of room in the case, incase you have a very large GFX card, or just want better airflow.

Pig, You can cast on a Dual Core, but it will not be HD, and it will slow your comp down (is hard to actually play the game whilst streaming).

And yea, the Blackwidow is awesome

That cable management is going to keep your computer running cool for sooo many months more than mine :P
Anyway, those specs really compliment each other. Not sure if it was a fluke or not but you hit the exact specs for cache between the motherboard and the other main components to minimise bottlenecks.

Great machine, I'm sure it will do you fine ^_^

The only improvement it could have in my opinion is a slightly larger PSU (maybe 800W?) for those times when your GPU is working overtime.

Anyway great specs, lovely looking PC!
