So, yeah. I think I've put off getting a promotion from to far too long. So, to kick myself into gear, I'm going to try to keep a blog on my journey there

And we are back with another 6 games from ThePandarine. Good week this week. I was placed up against a favoured , 2 s, a Top 8 and, much to my surprise, a . This week I took somethings I was told and learned from last week's games.This week my replay pack is missing one replay cause I played against the same person twice and overwrote the first one

Replay Pack: Panda's Road to Gold IV

Game 1 - ThePandarine vs Sol

vs (Rolled ). Without this replay I don't really know what did I do XD Looking at the game summary however, it seems I went for a Siege Expand while he went early Roaches. I got lucky that my bunker completed and the first Tank I had was a good 'retard' () magnet. I eventually push out with a sizeable Marine, Tank and Medivac force, eventually choking his economy to a 'gg'

Game 2 - ThePandarine vs LeMan

vs . Somehow I'm very paranoid these days in my TvZ that I send out early scouts. I scout he goes for Hatch first then Spawning Pool. I decide to fake a Bunker Rush and just get out. When I cancel the Bunker he goes, 'nice cheese attempt'. This got me riled up and I decided to go Mech. I trade 3 Hellions for several Lings and 3-4 Banelings which in my opinion is a fair trade. Slight crisis when he gets several Lings and Banelings outside my main but I manage to whittle it down that he retreats. Mutas come in but I was prepared with Turrets and a small force of Marines. I decide after that harassment to end it. I get into position and throw down a scan. I see Baneling Mines and I am pretty glad I didn't A-Move my Mech army. He just quits seeing that a contain was about to set in.

Game 3 - ThePandarine vs BFSkinner

vs . I decide to go Mech again. And he does the correct Zerg counter, Roach Infestor with a mix of Lings. I do not get the proper economy nor do any damage to my opponent's. His Infested Terrans and a Nydus Worm force me to go all-in. I lose the all in and 'gg'. To my surprise, I find out my opponent is and I feel like I did decent against a player of higher calibre.

Game 4 - ThePandarine vs Sol

vs (Rolled ). I didn't realise I was playing against the same guy nor did he it seems. I decide to go Banshees (I blame reading Liquidpedia and how Jinro uses Banshees ) Holding the towers alert me to a 7 Roach Rush and I tried to put down Bunkers ASAP. They complete just as the Roaches hit and I end up needing to pull SCVs and show my Banshees. My opponent overreacts and puts down alot of Spores. Good thing I was dumping minerals in Hellions and Marines . I go in with my big group of Hellions and just roast everything.

Game 5 - ThePandarine vs MasterCreky

vs . A favored player. I don't see that happening alot . I decide to go for a 2Rax build that breadfan (a member and I believe the official caster) showed on his stream. I lose the initial push but I know that that Warp was quick meaning a 4Gate was imminent. I put down two Bunkers and almost lose the game. I repel the 4Gate and take an expansion. I push out hoping to end the game but I end up trading armies instead. I just go mass Bio with Ghost and Medivac support. I prayed there was no Collosi and was very pleased there were none. (Having 3 Starports just in case helped ) Eventually, a big counter push gives me the 'gg'.

Game 6 - ThePandarine vs Khgdm

vs . By this game I was surprised how I didn't get any TvT. Guess Blizzard being merciful this week . I do a standard Reactor Hellion, doing my best to keep my Hellions alive. My opponent gets too greedy making so many Drones that when the standard timed push comes, he has no units other than Zerglings to defend with. Finding out that my opponent is Top 8 , I wonder what was he thinking.


Summary? 14 - 10 in Season 6 for the Week 4 of the new season for me. Good week. This week I felt comfortable albeit a little paranoid and nervous here and there. Special shout out to breadfan for showing how a 2Rax is suppose to work and all the guys who have been commenting and cheering me on via my blogs and chat Looking forward to next week. Just regarding the 2 rax (haven't watched other reps yet) you took your 2nd supply depot after first rax to complete the wall (which is normal in most builds), however when it comes to a 2 rax, you want to drop it after your orbital + second rax - it just times out nicely that since you are building the reactor straight away, with constant SCV production you won't get supply capped if you do it in this order, but your 2nd rax will be up and ready to go faster. The difference is that you would have hit with that same force minus 2 marines against 2 stalkers and a zealot instead of the army you actually saw after the 4 gateways had had a chance to make some dudes

Otherwise, you have the overall concept down pat, it's just about refining it to meet that timing, which is crucial when going with this one marauder version. Basically, the purpose is to hit before warp gate research finishes, when he has only a few units. It's not a kill move, but the goal should be for him to need to pull probes to defend it. If you are late, you're better off delaying and getting another marauder or 2, taking your expansion and researching combat shield or stim before teching to medivacs.

Also, when you push out, you should notice you have the gas to throw down a factory. Throw it down ASAP - having it down early means that even if you can't multitask super gosu and build your starport immediately, it will still be up quicker than if you wait til your pressure is over to come back to build your factory.

I was impressed by your composition and number of buildings after expanding - nice job, and you are definitely well on the right track for the important things

Try to get out of the habit of automatically throwing down 2 gas when you expand. At 11:00 after expanding, you already had more gas than you could spend, and by adding another 2 refineries, you just gimped yourself for minerals
