Panda's Road to Gold III
 

So, yeah. I think I've put off getting a promotion from to far too long. So, to kick myself into gear, I'm going to try to keep a blog on my journey there

And we are back with another 6 games from ThePandarine. Horrid round cause this time around I was matched with a Top 25 , 2 Top 8 s and 3 s. I'm starting to wonder if its cause I have weird game times or just plain bad luck or Blizzard's MMR thinks I'm almost ready for that promotion (which is now further considering this week)

I would really appreciate if someone could look into this week's replay pack cause I really am at a lost of words.

Replay Pack: Panda's Road to Gold III

Game 1 - ThePandarine vs UKnowWho

vs . numero uno! I decide to try and see what happens if I cut two Hellions. The results were interesting but I was outflanked by a Zergling Baneling force he had put away. After that, I was sure I was behind. I take the gold base and try my best to secure my fourth. His Mutalisk were high in numbers are sure enough I could hold the fourth. He goes Ling-Bling-Muta (or BLM, Bad Luck Man) and nearly breaks through. Its his dominance of the air that keeps me in my base. He tech switched to Broodlords but stops at a certain number, switching to Ling-Roach. I just couldn't hold the Swarm back and I 'gg'.

Game 2 - ThePandarine vs Weyestone

vs . More TvT? Seriously? Well, I decide to Siege Expand. I throw down a scan and I see my opponent getting 5 production buildings on ONE base. I was thinking, 'ONE BASE ALL-IN!' Turns out it wasn't. We both get into a slight stalemate. That's the thing about TvT when both players get Tanks, a stalemate can occur. So, I decide to get a third base and get Battlecruisers (or Biscuitcruisers as I prefer to call them). Good idea since its supposedly the current lower league meta-game in this scenario. With the BCs leading the way, he 'gg's out.

Game 3 - ThePandarine vs Barajiqal

vs . If only finding girls that are interested in you was as common as getting a TvT on ladder. I decided to try an all-in which failed considering that my opponent is . Doomed to failure, it was just a matter of time before I had to 'gg' out.

Game 4 - ThePandarine vs Ivar

vs . I try to 1/1/1 with Medivacs instead of Banshees. I try to drop but it doesn't work as I planned. It was a slow stranglehold on me before I 'gg' out to his Collosi.

Game 5 - ThePandarine vs Jacob

vs . opponent. I try to 1/1/1 again with Medivacs and worked to a degree. My fault here was letting him get so many Stalkers and not get bunkers for my Marines. Upgrades were slow and I was pretty sure the game had gone into his favour. He amasses a huge army, mostly Stalkers and High Templars. My Marine-Tank composition just don't have the firepower to combat. I 'gg' soon after.

Game 6 - ThePandarine vs gonads

vs . By Sithis. I went into this game, 'Gotta end this set of 6 with 2 wins at least'. I go for my TvP build that I have been using for a majority of my TvP games. I this time around however do not send the Marauders as my opponent got a Sentry. Sending my units only to get trapped by a force field is not ideal. So, I send in the Reaper. I get one Probe AND the Sentry. The Reapers has paid for itself. I expand and I keep trying to have a clue what my opponent is doing. He takes his 2nd at where your 3rd goes and so his natural expansion was untouched till later. That kept me guessing cause I had scouted a 4Gate coming down. A drop finds the Templar Archives getting chronoed. Snipe it and just sacrifice the whole lot of them. I immediately start churning out Ghosts to combat any High Templars (that and EMPs are good for all things ). The sacking of 2 of my expansions is a fair deal for being better prepared and having better positioning. I take out his army and counter attack. He tech switches to Collosi but its too late. He 'gg's and tried a last ditch attack with Zealots to regain some honour but is denied.


Summary? 9 - 9 in Season 6 for the Week 3 of the new season for me. Horrible week. I really need to work on sticking to proper games instead of trying to cheese. I went into this week hoping to go at least 3 - 3 but ended getting a thrashing and what not. Guess that's all I can see for myself :/. I would really appreciate feedback. Mate, I will go through your replays when I get home in a couple of hours, and I'll chat to you about them later if you want.

I just want to pull out a couple of things from your post

WRONG! It failed because you didn't execute well enough. You are nearly gold and the difference between you making it there or not is the level of execution required. Don't sell yourself short and give up early, and don't let yourself fall into the trap of excusing mistakes because your opponent was a higher league.

I don't understand the point of the 1/1/1 if you aren't going banshees. You can amass a more effective army of marine/marauder/medivac than marine/tank/medivac by the same stage of the game. Tanks in the 1/1/1 may seem amazing, but against Toss they are just there to stop your opponent from feeling to confident in rushing into your army's face. The real DPS comes from your marines, and the harassment comes from cloaked banshees. Unless your plan was to take out all his buildings as quickly as possible with the tanks, I think this is a mistake.

The big thing here is just scouting. Continue scouting right throughout the game. Don't see a natural down before 7:00? Check for hidden bases. I know when I watch the replay I'm going to find idle units at some stage in that game that could have been scouting, so put them to work! :P

keep at it panda, when i get a new laptop i will see what i can observe about the replays for you, until then GL with the promotion
