Getting back to Starcraft II - Choking whenever up against big names or people with big clan tags
 

Hi everyone! I'm MrFool.439 and I'm currently still in Masters.. GM is full for this season no chance T.T

Its only been about a few weeks since I came back for season 4 after a long long (touch and go play) and hiatus, and.I've been playing quite a lot! The endless cycle of winning streaks and losing streaks

But! It seems that my MMR has become sufficiently high for me to meet some players with big names/big clan tags and I find that I often choke when I play with then.

Simply put, I find that I do not possess the confidence I have when I play against names less known.

Eg of names that scare the shit out of me :
YoonYJ
Iceiceice
FXOtgun
GGFiery
Clan ngen
Clan alt
Clan SPR
Team SQLT
Most GM zergs just because GM zergs are so damned good in SEA!

And yada yada, quite a few to name actually!

Thing is, when I play with such players, I start choking at the loading screen and feel as if I'm behind the whole game! I just can't seem to get my play together and always predict myself to lose as soon as the game starts..

Well, I'm clanless and my main source of practise comes from ladder and I need to find a way to overcome this weakness of choking to big names or else I'll be stuck at my current position:/

Anyone else like me having this problem? Choking so hard you just can't seem to play well / think clearly as to whether you're ahead or what to do when you go up against players who are known as the best players of SEA?

If so, what do you do when you meet them on ladder? Any tips/advice? I would appreciate it if anyone could advice me on this as it's a big factor restricting me from playing well!

Big names are just plain big names. Just have confidence in yourself. For me, i only have no confidence playing FlashRevz because he beat me in so so so so many tournaments . But i haven meet him on ladder yet. HE RANK 1 GM.

Oh. That and kyzersoze. And most other GM zergs .

Just play as if they were any other person and work on improving, we are only people and we can make mistakes.
Except for EdgE, that man is a beast.

Haha tell me about it! I get frightened when I meet my own clan mates too...
Just play like you usually do, and have confidence in beating them!!!
I tend to cheese when I see good players >.>'

Yea kyzersoze and Edge if I meet them I'll prolly wet my pants like I did when I met YoonYJ..

But true that stitch! When I meet them I got the urge to cheese cause I don't feel like I can beat them in a straight up match but I try to control the urge:P

i experienced the exact same thing, once you start going over the replays you'll realise that you can take these big dogs out if you fix a few issues, my goal was to vs these big names as much as possible to remove the stigma that was associated with vsing them. As time passed i went from playing like a nervous wreck to be able to create good games with them and eventually being able to beat them. It takes a long time but its a great experience and comes with alot of practice!

Yeah, I agree with the above comments, just play as normal and think of it as a chance to pick out big flaws in your play and to improve.

I would love to contribute to the post but unfortunately i'm in gold league. I do have the opportunity to go up against THE CHAD though so.. =s

I would love to be in your position personally man!
