Worst Player in SEA Part #1

I'm a bad Starcraft player,

I'm not just a bad Starcraft player, I am a terrible starcraft player.

In order to try and improve myself I joined "The Proving Grounds" which is a group for those trying to get into The Sandbox. I guess it is an attempt to prove your motivation to try and get better. I quite like it, it gives me some motivation to even open up Starcraft and play the game.

In addition to joining "The Proving Grounds" I also took up some basic training method developed by Jakatak called The Staircase. The Staircase is focusing on small little increments of play. And while I think it has helped me improve in some areas, a little lately I guess over the last week, I haven't seen the improvement I would like to be seeing.

With Legacy of the Void launching in late November/December this year I really want to try and get to a stage in my game play where I don't feel so scrub like. I think part of this goal is to be as open as possible about my progress, not only in the group created by Jakatak but also in a blog.

So every couple of weeks. Until the launch of LotV, I will be posting a blog about what I am focusing on in my dedicated/deliberate practice regime and what my goals are I'll also post my ggtracker so people can make sure I'm being honest in my description.

So. Plan for the Period: 12th August - 19th August

My goals here are threefold.

1. Play 10 Games a Day/Night against Real Opponents.

2. Using the Staircase Method: Step 4. I am going to attempt to achieve 5 games in a row vs. real opponents (either in customs or Ladder) where I maintain a spending quota which is of at least Diamond Level.

3. I hope to improve my blink Stalker and Warp prism Micro.

I will post my progress, including GGtracker link and impressions of my practice on the 20th of August.

If you would like to help with my training I'm looking for Silver to Platinum players, who don't mind running of the same exercise for a few games. Add me on AM Philosopher#363 or RealID Overdetermined@hotmail.com

Admitting you're awful is the first step to improvement! Good luck!

This was a good read. Pretty thorough and you're definitely taking the right first step.

Good luck. I barely play ladder these days but I'm free to practice with you on any match up if you wish.

Since i started playing again a week and a half ago, there are so many areas that i need to work on.

The main focus atm, is;
- Constant probe production.
- Expanding as quickly as possible.
- Scouting as early as possible. and ensuring i always have an ob near their base.
- After that, macro, ensuring I keep my minerals down. after first exp add X gates. after 2nd exp, add Y gates.
- Also using new hotkeys like F1 and F2. and location markers more.

I think there is no need to bother with blink stalker micro with warp prism. focus on the basics first. You will get vastly better improvements in your game that a single micro action.

Whats the staircase method? link?

The Staircase method was developed by a guy called Jakatak. It is basically a method of training which focuses on small incremental changes to your play.

I can teach a Gold player into Diamond in a week, a Gold to Masters in a month... The StairCase method is flawed and attempts to teach you each component of the game separately. You can't order a sandwich then break it apart and eat each ingredient by itself.

@Fiend, if you learn how to execute a proxy 2 rax to a high level, you can probably cheese your way there
