The Old Guards

So, Mr Bradley "Tgun" Seymour and Pam came to visit ACL today. It was great seeing them again after so long, to ask how everyone's been, how League of Legs is going, etc. Upon leaving the venue, Brad dropped a casual "I'd stay longer if the old guard were here" (or something to that effect!).

Now imagine: a tournament for the Old Guards pre-2012/13!

While sc2 is understandably just a memory for some, I do believe that for many (or most) people from that era, it was also a time that was fun and filled with good friendships from the game. It was certainly what I love most about this community. A casual online tournament, maybe an archon tournament!, with casting also by some old timers, might be a great way to reunite everyone for a day.

Whaddaya say?

I miss those days.

Seeing the top contenders of today is like seeing your 5 year old niece suddenly in a dress and heels on a weekend night. I'd be way too scared to find out how good they are now. Seriously seeing Frustration as the favorite for ACL surprised me, then I checked the rest of the contenders and hes like almost the most veteran player there!

I've thought about playing SC2, but just remembering the commitment and number of hours you have to put in to stay on top of your game frightens the hell out of me. Not to mention the disappointment of losing would eventually crush us (those Tgun photos were real, man).

So much respect for the old guards that are still fighting the good fight - Pig, Iaguz, etc. I can't imagine how good you guys have become now. So proud of your achievements!

I remember being one of the new guys in that era, and that was probably the best time I've ever had playing and watching sc2

I would be keen, i still ladder once every 6 months or so and watch the odd stream so i'm pretty much in perfect shape tbh. We need Cam the God though (EdgE for you new d00ds)
