Forgiveness for Frustration

(TITLE) Unjust Case against Frustration.
Recently some members of the sea community decided to institute a 4 week lock on Frustration. The silent members of the SC2SEA community challenge Eddie to show compassion and leadership by standing by his original decision or revoking the 4 week lock.

At the end of this there is a personal apology from frustration to the community.

Here is the story:

“Frustration was removed from the tournament bracket for typing a lot in the channel chat arbitrarily and without any real just reason. This does not include the fact that the tournament admin should not have removed any player for any reason unless it was cheating or a late –show.”

Purpose of the thread: Frustration’s original 4 week lock should be reduced to 3 weeks.Unfortunately Frustration was banned for 1 week and removed from the Sea Craft Weekly on the 6th of April 2015 due to arbitrarily made decisions. Frustration has already missed a week of the SEA tournament due to a badly made decision by Philosopher.

Eddie made the decision based on a single person’s opinion. Eddie proposed an additional 4 week lock in the OSC Admins chat. It is very important to note at this point that ONLY Nama agreed to the proposition at that moment, its possible peoples view agree or disagree at this time. Based on a singular view, he changed the penalty which should have only been 3 weeks. The purpose of this written blog is to display the bias and unfair judgement which has been proposed by the sea tournament Administrator (Eddie) and remove the proposed 3-8 week tournament lock.

Quotes of discussion:

[6/04/2015 7:51:01 PM] Eddie Edwards: Well he's set the standard now, will have to apply to all.

What is disappointing about this statement, is that there are no clear rules as to the power and administrative control that a SEA tournament admin has. Its very disappointing that Philosopher’s mistake is now setting a ‘precedent’. I believe that the rules should be more clear and concise so that clarity is given to all players in a fair and respectful manner. This is why it is disappointing for Eddie to now instigate this new standard as the ‘typical norm’. My question, is whether Eddie would have said this to Pig, Moonglade or any other well known SEA community player. Very Questionable.

Seacraft Rules

Rules:
1. You have 15 minutes to start your Round 1 match; anybody that is not contactable after 15 minutes will be disqualified. This 15 minute timeout rule applies in all rounds.
2. You must report your results to an Administrator. You will be unable to move ahead in the tournament until your results have been checked and verified by Administration.
3. Race Choosing is not an option during sets. If you are going to change your race you must declare the intended change before each set begins.
4. Only Official Administrators, Casters and Streamers will be able to observe in-game.
5. You can stream your own games if you would like.
6. If a player disconnects, use of the 'Recover Game' feature will be used to continue the game. If the player has gone offline completely, inform an admin and wait 10 minutes for them to return. If the player does not return within 10 minutes of the disconnect they will automatically forfeit the match.

There is no rule in here that says a admin can or cannot dq you for talking in the chat nor does it say a admin can dq you for anything.

[6/04/2015 7:53:55 PM] Eddie Edwards: That's a bit of a stretch, tournaments going well, $'s increasing, new game coming out. Big plans for future. But yeah trolliing is too much at times, we'll have to crack down a bit on some of it

Eddie mentioned that what Philosopher did was beyond what is reasonable admin rights in a sea craft weekly. You can’t just lock someone for posting semi correct bracket information. This type of trolling is really inappropriate and since this tournament is weekly, you only get one opportunity to play. From my understanding, the sea craft weekly is the premier tournament each week on SEA and the admin should be administrating with a fair and unbiased view.

[6/04/2015 7:58:06 PM] Eddie Edwards: I wouldn’t worry about what others think mate. Just jump on do your thing whenever a tournament comes up.

Eddie increased Frustration’s lock to 8 weeks based on certain comments community members have made in relation to the 4 week lock. Based on these comments, it is very clear that Eddie has chosen to change the punishment based on what others have said. In the point regarding Nama, only a single view changed his opinion when the thread clearly indicates a different view. This is hypocritical and a lack of thought leadership as the Head organiser and supervisor of the SEA region tournaments. Eddie changed his mind within 2 hours of the post. Regardless of what he says justifies this change, he just ‘doubled’ the weekly lock.

Another 4 weeks suspension will be given, where we hope he takes time to reflect further on his actions, and how he might want to act as part of this community. This is not a blind reactionary decision, Frustration and I had been talking before these comments were made, and it seems any advice was disregarded, and genuine sincerity, remorse or restraint hasn't been shown.

I stand by the original 4 weeks given, if Frustration had of followed through on his end, but it does not seem to be the case
Frustration ‘Might’ not be taking this as seriously as he should be. When a punishment is given, it’s very difficult to understand exactly how seriously someone will take it. By this definition, Eddie could effectively be saying:
“You know, I think this Frustration guy really needs to suffer, he should really feel ashamed so I am going to keep increasing his punishment until I feel he has suffered enough.”

“(Eddie) Hey Dude (msgs someone on skype) I think Frustration hasn’t learned his lesson, what do you think? (RandoSkypo) “YEAH LETS INCReASE THE PeNALITY>?”

“(Eddie) Alright we’ll make it 8 weeks”

The fact that Frustration made a new thread should indicate that the lock has had an immediate effect. Some emotions could include: Anger / Sorrow / Disappointment.

Unfortunately this is where our view points are dramtically incorrect. A blind reactionary decision made within 2 hours of the initial judgement? This seems very reactionary. An arbitrary decision has just been made. This is a punishment, this isn’t a circus. Changing judgement a few hours later shows a real lack of consideration in setting new standards and precedents in the sea community. It is very disappointing to see Eddie is changing judgements based on a reactionary view to comments and posts made in thread be select individuals. This type of behaviour is known as relativism and is blatantly offensive as this is based towards many individuals if he changes his judgement based on those around himself.

If it were a pre-requisite to ‘show remorse’ as per the punishment, then it needs to be made more clearly in the original post. This is a public forum and the nature of Starcraft 2 in the sea region on sc2sea.com forums can be interpreted in many different ways with many types of viewpoints, rivalries and friendships.

Should a punishment even be given in the first place? What is happening to the tournament admins who make unfair and incorrect decisions? What we know is that unjust bias has been showed to Frustration and he is disappointed, a little sad and quite remorseful.

I Frustration first of all apoligise to the community for any offensive comments that have been deemed innopropiate, i have a very colourfull personality and sometimes things can escalate quite quickly. I am quite sad by what has happend in the last 24 hours and hope that people will forgive me, i hope that people will understand that over a 2 hour gap, going from a 4 - 8 week ban in a matter of 2 hours is quite significant. I enjoy friendly rivalries with the sea members of the community, including Fray which im looking forward to our match this week. I want to apoligise to anyone else for any reason about anything because lately i've had alot of stress and i've just finished dealing with it as late, im looking to turn over a new leaf if the community understands i am truely sorry about my actions. I hope this post shows that i have remorse and have been sorry about my actions and hope that forgiveness of the 4 weeks can be given, thankyou.
