So, after a week (or two?) or playing SC2 again after my 2 months hiatus.... My official verdict is... I am Diamond league AT BEST. Those who have been watching my stream can testify to this.. my mechanics are horrible and all bleahz.

So anyway, I will probably be still playing more and trying to get back the feel of it all, and should be streaming on a regular basis.


Now you might ask... why on earth am I announcing this? Well because, I want to join the GPD!

Yea I actually joined today (and got knocked in 2nd round by a marine/maruder woo) but felt uneasy as people may complain that I was Master league yadayada.

So I hope that by streaming this week you guys can see my skill level and be clear that I am very definitely NOT masters! haha.

To be fair it is the GPD and just because you haven't played in a few months doesn't qualify you for a lower league tournament.

I barely play any games so does that mean I can play in the BSG ?
I feel this post is to prove yourself to everyone that you are not masters quality and are on par with the GPD players and its probably true, but that's the rules

Yea as I said I'm putting this out to avoid any QQs from GPD players when I join next time. I am joining for the fun of the experience (we all know it's more fun to be playing in a comp vs ppl approximate your skill level), and hoping for an exception to be made. If you argue 'oh then what if every Master league player wants to join now' - if they are really that lame and all have decent justification for doing so, and hence cause complications for the admins, I will not join then.

If you really are only playing at a Diamond level, you'll get demoted.

If you don't get demoted, you're either not playing enough games to accurately determine your skill level, or you're not playing at a Diamond level.

To be more accurate, I'm not losing enough games for Battle.net to determine that I have crossed the threshold for demotion, according to their lovely secret MMR formula.

If you were to step back and just think about it, there are many players 'at the threshold' for promotion (for gold or diamond) but simply stop laddering and instead just practice customs etc. They are hence at a far superior level than diamond leaguers.
One prime example is Kit (IGN Lithium), who dominated GPDs for a period of time. I made acquaintances with him and learnt this was precisely his case - he didn't ladder but just trained against Masters/GM etc. Thus he steamrolled his way THREE consecutive GPDs, and then decided he was bored enough and stopped taking part.

Thus my point is, why is this more acceptable than what I propose? Rules are imposed to ensure a fair playing field, and my joining does not implicate that.

Once again, I will not take part if fellow competitors are really against it, but I just hope you will be able to see my logic, over the rigidity of rules.

I do agree with crAzerk on that point. With there being some player in gold in SEA that may just play much more on other (typically NA) servers, so being much better than what they claim on the SEA server. He also quotes that people may just play lots of custom games which is just as plausible.

Personally, being a participant in BSG Clan league. I did pretty well and hopefully will so again. Though in regards to not being promoted, it may be likely that I am platinum level at heart (or just shy). It is not out of the ordinary for me to play against mid to high platinums on ladder. In saying that, I am not the best player in the BSGCL at the moment, as my second place in the BSGCL invitational would suggest.

I am not saying that myself or other should not participate but I may not be exactly gold, or just shy of promotion. This is likely to me just not playing enough games ladder or custom to get that little bit further refinement into platinum and beyond.

My point is, with this sort of distorted grey area that is formed when a player like myself is possibly better than BSG level (I may just be completely full of my self and cocky xP) but isn't promoted, why are the rules so inflexible for people that are possibly in a higher league, when it may already be discretely bent out of proportion below them?

So if he can prove himself to be a real noob ( ) and is a trustworthy member of the community (judging by his past achievements in his profile I'd say yes), why not bend the rules to accommodate someone who has well let his game slip?

I do not think that means what you think it means.

Moving on; how do we differentiate between Masters players who are playing at a Diamond level, and Masters players who are playing at a Masters level?

If we disregard MMR/League like you're suggesting, we would have to take their word for it. While I'm sure you're being genuine, not everyone will be.

I understand your sentiment and intentions, but don't agree.

Ugh, I hope not! Haha. A diamond league player isn't exactly 'a real noob' but yea, I'm streaming almost nightly now, can tune in to my stream to see me ladder

That IS the wrong term, I couldn't think of the correct one xD I suppose 'disrupt'?

In other words, if my participation brings about such an uprising, I will not do so.
