Stream Direction

So this will be a fun post, to start off I would like to apologise, apologise to all those people who were actually trying to help me amongst the trolling, I reacted badly at the time and I am truly sorry for this.

Onto the good stuff now, so as of today I am unemployed, so I am going to try and make a real go at full-time streaming coupled with sc2 and an event weekend here and there of WoW and maybe some morning streaming of it to.

So the plan is as follows:
Regular Streaming Schedule (some +/- time)
Viewer Interaction
Highlight vids
Development goals
On stream coaching (as regularly as I can get it)

For Starcraft 2 this means I will be back to my original goal of at least 100 games a week, I currently do have a torn ligament (partly the reason of jobloss) in my wrist, which does mean me playing hurts a fair amount, but I tried playing last night, If I do replay analysis and write down my big key mistakes between games, gives my wrist a bit of time to chill.

So again I am sorry to those people who have done nothing but try to help me, hopefully you guys can give the stream and myself a second chance.

-BIG NOTE-
Build alterations are to be messaged to me, mainly because it gives me BO in a list with no disruptions and it is in a better layout.

Re: Stream Direction

Nice one Fede. Talk about commitment.

As for torn ligament, I wouldn't worry too much about that mate. Just switch to protoss. Here's an instructional video from (oldie but goldie)

AxS.SouL Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 1:04 PM

Re: Stream Direction

I play Protoss on my ipod, it's rather easy!

Is there a plan to continue streaming? The community is very thankful of the work in BSG's and other things so far, and some big clan wars coming up! (AxS vs eQ huehuehue)

Snx.FeDe Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 1:09 PM

Re: Stream Direction

Yeah in the OP it says regular streaming schedule and yes I will continue casting as long as people want me to

If u just lost your job because of a torn ligament in your wrist and it is due to gaming, then this is rather sad.

Gaming in moderation should always be the situation. Your job and health should be more important or at least as important, as the game or gaming. Reviewing your replays gives yourself not only a break physically or mentally, but a chance to understand your strengths, weaknesses, your opponent's build, timings etc.

Hope you get better soon and find a new job soon too.

EDIT : Add on : Also don't underestimate injuries, they tend to recur. So allow yourself for a good recovery but bearing in mind, it can recur, to always take care.

Re: Stream Direction

The injury occured at work, the guy who caused is got fired, I can return as soon as it is healed, so its like a lay off recovery period kinda thing, but since i was casual no payment or payout kinda thing.

they are assisting out of companies own pocket for my bills eg rent, elec, phone petrol etc though

Oh, so basically you aren't paid but you're being compensated or something?

Good thing they fired the guy that caused the injury on you.

Have a good recovery, and don't play TOO MUCH.. imo 100 is a really high number if you're wanting to recover, you should limit it greatly for now and play other games that isn't as straining more often if you can.

fray`fenner Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 3:30 PM

Re: Stream Direction

Be really careful with your wrist, any playing that you do will definitely increase the duration that it stays injured.

Chasu Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 3:36 PM

Re: Stream Direction

What fenner's saying is play protoss, your wrist will be fine then

Snx.FeDe Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 4:03 PM

Re: Stream Direction

Can't even play protoss, I like macro too much

mGGDrGooSe Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 4:10 PM

Re: Stream Direction

In all seriousness, if you have a torn ligament, you shouldn't do anything for the next 6 weeks. Your wrist will likely never fully recover depending on exactly what you did and how much that part gets used during gaming. But taking 6 weeks off now may mena the difference between an hour of gaming before pain or 4 hours of gaming before pain in the years to come. Take it from someone who has sporting or gaming related injuries in several joints.

Ice714 Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 4:22 PM

Re: Stream Direction

I would stop using it all together, your going to make it way worse and possibly ruin the chances of you ever working full time ever again, let alone using a mouse or keyboard.

Also because your a Casual, you would still be 100% covered for workers compensation, an injury attained at a work place is covered by the work place guarantee and agreement.

Take a break!!

Re: Stream Direction

You should definitely listen to the guys who say to take it easy!
But you probably wont, so good luck to you in your games.
Some advice:

Stay chilled. Never assume you are being trolled and then ban the person without being sure they're not just making comments on your gameplay. As a gold leaguer obviously people are going to see flaws and want to help.
Be welcoming to new people who visit your stream - greet them, tell them to follow.
Try and stream at the same time of day so you can get the same audience to come back (I see that's already in your list)
Try to be a bit upbeat and happy. If you're feeling angry/miserable log off. Nobody wants to watch a miserable player. Low league players are watched when they have a good personality!
As always, interact as much as possible with your chat.

Keep up the good casting work for BSG etc and go easy on the ladder with that sore wrist.
Honestly I would say it would be better to take the entire rest of the season off and do other stuff that isn't gonna make your wrist worse but I know you wont do that :P

GL! Above all: HF ... people like people who are having fun

Malice Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 9:30 PM

Re: Stream Direction

Don't listen to the haters Fede, they just don't want you playing as much because they dont want to see you succeed. Keep playing through the pain mate, that's how superstars are born, through pain and suffering! gl hf

SLCNPezz Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 9:35 PM

Re: Stream Direction

+1 to Malice! Follow your dreams man, look forward to tuning in! GlHF!

Re: Stream Direction

I understand you have time off but is this wise?

How many viewers do you usually get? Streaming full time is not really worth anything financially unless you are very popular - which with the way you treat people isn't going to happen.

If you have an injury the most important thing is to focus on getting better so you can return to work. The longer you are out the more financially strained it becomes which makes life shit. Gaming full time on an injured wrist is a really stupid idea. A proper job is far more important than any game.

For every person deluded into thinking they can become a "pro gamer" or streaming professional know it is a VERY RARE OCCURRENCE. Those who do go "pro" usually end up living off nothing because it is not an industry where there is huge money unless you are one of the top players in the world. As for streamers, unless you have something that sets you apart streaming is never worth the financial commitment of being "full time" because even if you do get partnered or donations the likelyhood of getting over $3000K AUD a month - which is what an average job should pay to cover bills etc is slim.

I understand people get caught up in their dreams but at some point they have to realise that focusing on a hobby over recovering from an injury is a terrible idea.

JDGaga Wed, 12th-Feb-2014 10:32 PM

Re: Stream Direction

+1 Rogue, huge uphill battle, you'd be lucky to even get 10-20 viewers(real talk). At least dreams are free, i guess :/
- from a nobody on the forum, casually chiming in ;D

Re: Stream Direction

hahahahaha gl

Snx.FeDe Thu, 13th-Feb-2014 12:53 PM

Re: Stream Direction

umm just incase you missed it btw, by full-time streaming I just meant in relation to the hours I put in.

@jdgaga, most days i do stream sc2 id easily get that 10-20 so its not really lucky on that point mate

@people worried about my wrist, i can feel what hurts and what doesnt, if it gets to the point it hurts too much to play ill stop, but for now i want something to pass the time + i dont get much of a choice anyway, not working means i help around the house, cleaning, which is also a lot of lifting more weight then what i was doing at work (garage is a mess)

Re: Stream Direction

good luck man. If you enjoy doing something then do it. There will always be people that try to put you down. Don't take it personal though. At the end of the day as long as it's making you happy. But yeh still look after yourself. They say all is good in moderation.

Also not sure I get the point of the preceding comment (pic)

SLCN.ARze Thu, 13th-Feb-2014 11:55 PM

Re: Stream Direction

LOL.
Gl Fede, I do echo Rogue's thoughts, but I guess as long as you keep your goals realistic (back to work after recovery etc) you should be fine!

Re: Stream Direction

All the best to you once again. Like what the people before me have said already, real life > game. So recovery should be priority for you now instead of making contents and stuff like that. Scene's pretty saturated already so you really really really really need to up your game and offer something different. My constructive criticism for you is that so far, there's nothing that stands out yet. But I'm confident if you really do think hard enough and try well enough, this might work out for you.

Snx.FeDe Sat, 15th-Feb-2014 7:06 AM

Re: Stream Direction

What is with quoting a picture of me smiling holy shit xD

@Ravenscout, seeing someone happy makes your night, thats great dude.

@Elusory, the thing is, I have already stopped trying to think of what I do differently hence I haven't actually been streaming much, I honestly don't see the point.

So to those lovely people who thought it would be great fun to always troll me and be real dicks to me, mainly because you enjoy bandwagoning with the "popular kids" thanks, you honestly have crushed my spirit from even bothering to try and get good at casting, good at making vlogs and for the most part wanting anything to do with the community or sc2 in general. So thanks guys, with this said BSG Open tonight will be my last cast.

Re: Stream Direction

Ok real talk here Fede, I think you have a serious problem of needing to be the victim of every situation you get your self in. Just look at the posts in this thread.

Supportive / supportive advice - 12 posts

Neutral / neutral advice - 3 posts

Negative / troll - 2 posts

You are never going to get overwhelming positive feedback for anything you do in life. You have 12 well known SEA community members supporting you in this thread and 3 wishing you well but advising you to be cautious but still trying to help you out.

The only thing that could be taken as a troll is a screenshot from a full time ROOT member. If I was to make a thread about wanting to get into casting there is no ******* way Petraeus would post in my thread because I'm a nobody, you should be proud you at least have some name recognition. I don't know Petraeus but my 1st opinion was that he was showing off your overlay, obviously the other dude laughing at it wasn't great.

I have only been a member of there forums for ~6 months but from my point of view is a serious pattern developing here. Almost everyone wants you to be successful in what ever you do, nobody here wants you to further injure your wrist.

I think you have to be realistic about your goals. Don't try to be Artosis then get upset when you're not there after 2 weeks.

I wish you all the best.
