Sc2 SEA Server just about dead...
 

It saddens me, SEA GM has hit lowest of lows (currently 44 as i have made this blog) can at times take a bit to find a game, bearly no one in public chats and with chats like (yes this is in a way a shout out) mgg and noobschool the only major active chats i know of (that I KNOW of there might be more) that seem to be somewhat active.

Theres comes a point where a game as a community or as the game itself comes to a dying end and it saddens me it comes so soon for SEA and slowly for sc2 in general. Servers like NA and EU and maybe KR are still holding strong at this stage (which is good to see) and i can understand that our SEA players (especially pro players from the SEA scene) like moonglade , PiG , rossi , Pet , Mafia , LiviBee (LiviBee is pro cause she went to MLG haha) all the xgking players and the iM players and other Nv players (so on and so forth theres so many of you guys) have either moved to another game, moved servers (which is fair enough, better comp = better practice) or even a bit of both.

I guess my conclusion is the fact how a server that was doing alright a couple of years ago has seem to fade so much to a point where i just am slowly losing interest in the game. I know i can just play on NA and EU and KR, but i wish the SEA community would come back online and be lively again in public chats and in other chat rooms and laddered on the SEA server. Basically i just miss the SEA community in general. Maybe that must be why i have found myself blogging on sc2sea a lot more then ever now because it seems my only way to connect to SEA players now. I pray sc2 doesn't die out completely one day for it is truly a fantastic game to watch and to play (even with the occasional cheeses) cause StarCraft 2 as a game had changed my life the first day i go9t the game, i never thought it would of, i thought it would of been another game on the list to play with friends from school, but sc2 has become a part of me, its become my life. I love this game too much to see it die.

Well that is about it from me for now. i truly do miss the SEA community, everyone was so polite and nice, not like these NA creepers. T.T

If SEA server wasnt a waste of time people would probably play on it. Unfortunately (or fortunately i dunno) that won't change

Mafia quit to start with. There's no more iM players playing SC2 and to be honest the only way the other pros will improve is to play on other servers, and it does show.

SEA is basically just.. dead. It's a server that's pretty much just restricted to us now (tbh), and everyone would rather play NA or KR since they're much easily accessible and the skill level is clearly higher.

Not to mention most people get same or better ping to NA/KR and as you already said the competition is better

the SEA community is still alive right on this forum. the server is practically irrelevant at this point and just because it's basically empty doesn't mean the community is gone.

if sea had decent ping to begin with it would have lived, sadly even if they improved it now I think its too late to be revived

Oh yes the ping. Far out the ping in SEA is really bad for a lot of us tbh, and it's even if not, better ping on NA than it is on SEA. In some cases people have better KR ping than SEA ping.

Don't be so chicken little about this. The sky isn't falling, and there are MANY other competitive players who you haven't mentioned that still play a lot. As long as the next tier of players (Hut, Petrify, Pezz, Jazbas, Satu Ninja poker etc are all still vying to take places of the other 5-6 pro's then the scene is fine. Chances are you just don't know these players, so relax and know the sea scene is still pretty stronk, even if our server isnt

By dying you mean we're seeing PiG fly to ASUS ROG, Dreamhack. Iaguz going to IEM Shanghai. Maynarde casting next to Apollo ? Various players going to MLG? And a $13,000 StarCraft 2 Tournament with Business Class Flights in Hong Kong for the first time? Sadly, many old faces are starting to fade, but as someone else said, this is not the end at all. It's just a new beginning for SEA.

SEA server has literally no advantages over any other server. If it had started as a server with low ping for Aussies then pros would have had a lot more incentive to play there. But instead we have tournaments on SEA occasionally and then the entire community migrating to KR or NA. I've said this before but basically when those tip top players switch server then the next level down become the best on the server, all of a sudden they need better competition (the pros better than them are gone to NA/KR). Then they leave and then it happens again, and again and then we're left with what we've got right now. Now keep in mind this doesn't happen on EU and NA because the ping difference is so key, a lot of players prefer practicing on good ping against good players than bad ping against great players. On top of this SEA rarely has the cool arcade games that for example NA might have so socially it sucks too.

That's why a site like this is so cool is that all the sea players are still connected despite being all over the place in game. Basically, there is no incentive to play SEA, at all. Longer queues, worse players, equal or worse ping, no customs, and so on.
