Stream Feedback

I've just recently begun streaming and haven't really caught on to an identity like some of the more regular streamers. Please help me find my own identity and streaming style.

Hence I'd like to to ask for some feedbacks and suggestions on my streaming style.

What is entertaining to you guys?
How much should I be talking? Should I be joking around or focusing on strategy?
No I will not go shirtless.

Rayray

What is wrong with you guys, it is freaking cold these days!

Alicia - I've got enough of a reputation as being somewhat in touch with my feminine side already -_-

Re: Stream Feedback

Maybe just talk about your thought processes when playing, why you're reacting the way you are etc.

Thats very attractive to the ladies Ray, We need a sensitive man in our lives baby

Re: Stream Feedback

1. I second the Pikachu costume, but veto the 'call me maybe'

2. I like watching streams where the player is articulating what they are trying to do, what they see in the game and how they'll approach it. Sort of in the style of Artosis or Minigun. Though you may find it difficult to play and talk at the same time. Particularly because you are a Protoss player, I'd watch your streams if you are explaining your strategy as you are going along.

3. Joking around is good as well, I think a mixture between strategy and just interacting with your viewers is probably the best way to do it, and you often find the best streamers are able to do that.

Yeah so they can friendzone the shit out of them.

Re: Stream Feedback

I think youd be great just doing what you do, timing attacks and theory crafting, the kinda streamers I like are the ones that converse with the audience, you dont really need to talk all that much during engagements but giving insight in what you planning to do they a bit of a recap after (what I did right/wrong) is always good

One thing I really like about iaguz's stream is that he says "we shouldve done x" or "What we are going to do" I think the use of "we" instead of "I" really helps establish a bond with the viewer

Also try not to spend stream time trying to copy a build youve seen on gsl or something (i dunno if you do, but always find it boring when people do), why watch random Protoss X trying to perfect PartinG's latest build, I might as well watch PartinG to find out what he is doing now, not what he did last week

Anyway this is just my opinion, not sure how helpful itll be

Re: Stream Feedback

Rays stream was ok just having the mic too close to your keyboard so whnever you talked was drowned out with KLAKKALKKLAKKLAKKLAKKLAKKLAKKLAKKLAKLKAKLAK doesn't help.

I think you fixed that though.

"Though you may find it difficult to play and talk at the same time. Particularly because you are a Protoss player"

What?

Philosopher Tue, 23rd-Apr-2013 1:39 PM

Re: Stream Feedback

Yeah...Forgot to start new paragraph

"Particularly because you are a Protoss player, I'd watch your streams if you are explaining your strategy as you are going along."

Also worded quite badly. What I should have written is "I'd watch your streams if you are explaining your strategy as you are going alone, particularly because you are a Protoss player"

Re: Stream Feedback

with out being bias'd.. iaguz's stream is one of my favourite.. Because he talks thru his game plan and reactions to the opposition etc. If you aren't one to talk, have no mic sounds (klacky keyboard etc) and just play some rad tunes and that also has its merits (ala - Tim's stream).. Most of all, make sure its you and your personality shining thru the stream. glgl

self-commentate your games and also mix in some terran games

Re: Stream Feedback

Play Zerg or go shirtless.

NvRossi Tue, 23rd-Apr-2013 2:22 PM

Re: Stream Feedback

can't same im a fan of the music you play, otherwise just take a look at other top protoss streamers and try and imitate them + mix in your own style.

talk as much as you can whilst being able to play adequately, maybe stream on NA instead of korea so your play doesn't suffer as much.

Communicate with chat in between games.

Re: Stream Feedback

As a player I don't like you simply cause you kill zergs and it makes me angry haha
But I think your humour and personality are your strength (based off casting and interviews I have seen) so should not do the typical ladder with music style of stream
Just be typical cool light with mic and talk to audience and they will come

Forget to mention - hair tutorials ^^ thank you

Re: Stream Feedback

Thought processes, and that said above sounds good. Most importantly be yourself and not overdoing being someone you are not. I think ChadMann expressed it pretty well.

Have fun streaming and everything else should fall into place. An occasional viewer's request (gamewise that is) would spice things up once in a while

Re: Stream Feedback

If you don't go shirtless, I simply won't watch.

Re: Stream Feedback

I liked it. The only slightly negative thing for me was the music, but that comes down to personal taste

Aequitas Tue, 23rd-Apr-2013 3:57 PM

Re: Stream Feedback

If you fix your stream link to not link to a dead website it might help you get viewers?

ToRLuneth Tue, 23rd-Apr-2013 4:33 PM

Re: Stream Feedback

A working stream link at the bottom of your post would be a nice start, atm stream link directs me to own3d, which is not optimal.
This might also be worth a read: http://www.destiny.gg/n/my-journey-in-streaming/
Perhaps try to get featured on TL? Not sure what that would entail but could be very beneficial.

iM Light Tue, 23rd-Apr-2013 4:33 PM

Re: Stream Feedback

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I think I understand the expectations that is in place.

Just need to stream more to get comfortable with showing my face infront of the camera, aswell as talking while playing.

Ofcourse music is a matter of taste but my playlist is pretty outdated so I'll be looking into that, personally I enjoy playing without music because it is a distraction which I dislike.

Aequitas/TorLuneth - SC2SEA used to allow longer signatures, now whenever I try to edit my signature it tells me there are too many lines. So I've put off editing it until now. It is now shorter, with the correct links in place. The link from the sc2sea stream database is fine as it is though.
