Tt eSPORTS MEKA G1 Combat White









Functionality: I've never had a keyboard that has USB & earphone/mic slots on it. I'm a heavy user of thumb drives, and the earphone/mic slots at the front of my CPU case doesn't work so this was an amazing addition to my battlestation. No more reaching out to the dusty back to plug/unplug headsets!

Black switch experience: I've been using brown/red switches for years now before the switch to MEKA G1. I have to admit the transition the black switches wasn't too fun, but after about a week or two I got use to click-less feel. I have no idea if it is due to the MEKA G1 or something changed with my gameplay, but after I switched to these black switches my APM increased by about 50-100. I've come to prefer black switches now as they feel more sensitive and I don't miss-press as often.

Ergonomics: The ergonomics of the keyboard feels really good as I have a mild case of CTS, and usually switching keyboards or mouse mean I have to go through a week or two's transition phase where my hands would go numb after every game. Surprisingly this never occurred with the MEKA G1, so that was pleasant. I use the MEKA G1 without the wrist rest as my arm feels awkward with it. I still put the wrist-rest back with the keyboard whenever I'm not playing though, goes well with the furniture.

Keyboard reach: Coming from a FPS background, my left hand refuses to get off its WASD position, which means I hotkey everything in reach of my fingers without having to lift up my hand. I'm a extensive user of the F1-F5 keys for camera hotkeys, and the hardest part about choosing keyboards is to have these F1-F5 keys in comfortable reach. The MEKA G1 keyboard layout is almost exactly the same as my previous keyboard, so this was a very comfortable transition without much issues.

Complaints: My biggest complaint for the MEKA G1 is its size. It's bigger than most keyboards I've used, and that meant I had to get another work bag to fit the keyboard it to bring it around with me. I guess this is one of those first world gamer problems though.

Conclusion: Sweet functionality, comfortable layout with black switches. I'd recommend the MEKA G1 to any gamer. It's very suited to gamers, perhaps not as much to people who do a lot of work typing due to the heavy black switches. There is a new PRIME version of the MEKA keyboard that was just released that sports Cherry MX Brown switches. Haven't gotten my hands on those yet, but I'd imagine that'd be the perfect setup for gaming & working.

If I lift up my left hand I have to take a good 5-10 sec to look at the keyboard and place it back properly. The confusion! T.T~

Had a meka g1 for almost a year now. Really like it, no complaints at all.
