TL;DR Preface: This will be a recap of my experience at ACL Sydney 2014. If you watched the event or know the results, the only thing you're going to learn is my mentality
going into the games / coming out of the games and what I did before / after them. You're not going to find crazy drama here, sorry. That's saved for Mates of Starcraft.
For me, the event started on the Friday (day before the event) as I had to get into the apartment to check in for the team (as it was... [Read More]
So, the team I play for (in League of Legends) just qualified for regionals and Riot Oceania did a writeup. They put up a blurb and whatnot and a bunch of stuff. Yada yada, here's the link:
However, they omitted and rephrased a hell of a lot of my stuff, after asking me to heavily elaborate, especially about WCS 2012 (which is a touchy issue for me). Just for the hell of it, here's the unedited version for you guys to compare. So, without further ado:
What is dedication? Websters defines it as "a devoting or setting aside for a particular purpose". However, I think it's defined as something Australia is lacking. Something that needs to be brought into the SC2 community! However..
It has been! There is a little New Zealander who is bringing us all the gift of dedication. A mere hashtag? Not enough to truely explain just how important the term is, and how much we dearly needed it to be brought into our community. Without it, we would have... [Read More]
TL;DR So, a lot of people have been questioning if I'm leaving SC2 or not lately. The answer is mostly yes. End TL;DR
This is written messily. The pacing isn't what I'd like, and I'm sure I forgot a lot. But this should sum up most things.
When I first started playing SC2, I didn't exactly have a lot of friends in it. I didn't belong to a clan, didn't join a clan, hell I had one friend who played constantly who quit shortly after beta. Once he quit, I was alone. It was tough not having... [Read More]
So.. I'm here to tell you a story. It all started out fairly normal.
We were just mining, when I was met by an enemy who tried to hide behind a facade of good tidings.
I shan't be fooled. I prepare for battle with my glorious spaceships to defeat the zerg scum.
He however, is not impressed. In fact, he loses his facade and starts insulting my intelligence! How dare he not recognize that I am one of the Protoss, the smartest beings in the universe.
He attempts to destroy my... [Read More]
I've been lacking a lot of motivation and it's one of the worst feelings. I feel like I've went from a solid contendor for first and second in events to barely scraping into the top 8.
However, that being said, I feel like the SEACL is a good platform for change. I'm sure by now that most of you have seen the hilarity that was my games vs Myuu. It was really, really stupid.. game two was a build I've been theorizing for a while now, but as you can see.. i've given it nor the testing or... [Read More]
So, everyone else was doing tier lists - I just want to fit in and be cool. After all, if there's one thing I yearn for in life, it's the acceptance and love of everyone else. So, as such, I felt that I'd contribute my own thoughts to a tier list!
Tier 1) Zerg.
OP as hell, the race is too damn godlike I say! If you ever get to late-game, you can't be beat! Geeze..
Tier 2) Protoss.
These guys are as strong as zerg, but apparently have... [Read More]
So.. a certain someone linked me to pinnacle e-sports betting, and instead of betting (dear god it's tempting..) I figured I'd just share all of my picks for the first round with you guys. Bet with your mind, not with your heart.

After losing to Pet I was pretty annoyed at myself -- I didn't play my best and made some very basic mistakes (sitting at 1500 minerals / 0 gas is one of the sadder points). However, I had to move past that, as my next opponent was Nv.Rossi, and he had recently posted some very impressive ZvT results. I didn't want my ZvT winning streak to end here (or anywhere).
The first game was extremely fun: it was... [Read More]
This hasn't been edited, just what I've written up over the night, part 2 will be released whenever It's finished.
EB Expo Blog
My EB Expo "Weekend" started a day earlier than everyone -- we (myself and Pamela) picked up Petraeus from Parramatta station at around 7:30 -- it was actually quite weird, my girlfriend spotted him before I did, yet she's never seen him. All she had was my description of "He looks kind of like me, only slightly shorter and more New Zealander". After tailing him... [Read More]
Petraeus is easily the most mannered, friendly person to ever grace the SEA server. Not once have I heard anyone speak ill of such a wonderful individual.
I mean, just look at this face;
Does that look like a person who would ever belittle you? I thought not.
Not only is does he have dashing good looks, but he makes people like Sheth look like absolute monsters who have no regard for the feelings of other players! He's even kind enough to give me tips after he throttles me in-game --... [Read More]
How could anyone deny the manly presence that is Ray? He's the man girls want and guys want to be. Talented at both Starcraft and Life, there's no circle this man hasn't dipped his hand into and come out on top.
Here's to you, Ray. Hopefully you shall be kind... [Read More]
All of this is from memory -- I'm not going to fact check any of this. Also, I'd like to say that this event was easily the best event I've been to in SC2. That includes going over to Korea for the GSTL, going to multiple MLGs. This event will easily be a memory that I'll hold closely for years and years to come. Anyway, to
Dissapointed isn't the word I'd use to describe how I feel right now. I think this is about as sad as I've ever been in recent memory -- losing WCG didn't even put me into this position.
A teaser!
The good news for all the kind folk who both followed my journey throughout the tournament + gave their support - I shall have a blog written up by the end of the week: it will probably be released after wednesday, as I'm waiting for a response from System on if there shall be a podcast this... [Read More]
I guess I'll start with the FXO qualifier -- I missed the first qualifier due to RL commitments, however I was confident that I would qualify in the second qualifiers. There weren't many players in SEA that I wasn't confident against -- I felt at that stage that I had a good chance of besting anyone in Australia... [Read More]
I'm doing a video on every zerg opener I can think of, and will them progress onto how to control your army in the midgame, as well as transitioning from midgame to lategame, and lategame army control. If you have any suggestions for something that I haven't covered, please feel free to message them to me either on here or on youtube. ... [Read More]
So, I've learned a few things from my first few days on Korea: first, my early game is awful. Over about 80 replays, I had something like;
55% 0-15m winrate
85% 15-35m winrate
