This blog is about what being a Starcraft II progamer outside of Korea (Australia for me) means right now, and the challenges we face ahead. This blog is written in the context of the weekend I just had at ACL Brisbane. This was the first big event for HotS (in Australia) and kicked off the SEA SCII season. This was written before the WCS NA Qualifier but just got around to posting it.
Competition, Exposure and Personality
Right now Starcraft is in a very scary place. HotS is... [Read More]
I've just recently begun streaming and haven't really caught on to an identity like some of the more regular streamers. Please help me find my own identity and streaming style.
Hence I'd like to to ask for some feedbacks and suggestions on my streaming style.
What is entertaining to you guys?
How much should I be talking? Should I be joking around or focusing on strategy?
No I will not go shirtless.
As some of you may know, I recently replaced my faulty graphics card (w/ ACL winnings) and started to stream my practices again. But I'm still using the old WoL overlay and people on my stream has been complaining. Could anyone help me out? I'm absolutely helpless with graphics stuff. I can perform physical services as a reward.
Hey guys, there's a Melbourne LAN for dota2 on this Sunday at 10:00 AM at MC Internet cafe, and I'm getting a team together!
If you want to play, post in comments below with what your position is you like to play, and your steam account dets, and we'll get this ball rolling. More details in pic below:
A lot of concerns have been raised in other threads. I just wanted to give my personal view of last night. In a semi-coherent rage form..
Why was the bracket designed to last 10+ hours? There was 3 hours between the first and 2nd round. THREE HOURS. Many of the other rounds had a whole hour and a half designated when the sets were done in 30 minutes. Myself, the koreans and everyone else playing from the other side of the world had to get stay... [Read More]
With the recent amount of attention that seemed to rise in the sc2sea chat lately I thought I would like to make some friendly bets as ppl seemed to think they knew a thing or 2 about sc2.
So...

I finally got around to writing a blog about my experiences up in Brisbane. I'm not just going to talk StarCraft, but also about my life a little bit. So, at the start of the year, ETL was looking like it was doing pretty well. Our manager had said something to the effect of that he would use money from his own pocket to send members of our planned LAN team to ACL events and such until we can pick up sponsors. As of right now we are still sponsorless, but certainly not from lack of effort. He... [Read More]
Forgive any spelling mistakes I haven't read through it.
Day 1
Ok so I guess I'll just start with walking to the event. I parked somewhere in the vicinity of the venue and on the way in ran into the fray crew. I hadn't met any of them except for fenner so many hands were shaken in short amount of time. Miles led the way as we found our way in and entered the ballroom.
I registered with Norksman (who is an awesome admin/whatever) and then watched the players. Said hi to Nama and... [Read More]
a bunch of videos I have been making lately. been experimenting with some stuff and im finding video making quite fun! just invested in some more gear.
Oh and see how many Singaporean SC2 players you can spot here hahaha!
I like to think of myself as a fairly traditional guy. I was born to Buddhist parents and sure... I'll light incense and worship false Gods even if I'm atheist because it makes my family happy and that's important to me. Rather than an act of Religious worship, I see it as a family tradition. It's something we do together no different than to when families gather for Christmas dinner something like Thanksgiving.
So when I play online I start with 'gl hf' and always finish with... [Read More]
The journey is soon to be documented and presented to everyone. But I can say, it was tiring and filled with difficult obstacles. I really feel for the fray team that had to spend that first night in horrid conditions (the hostel manager where we were staying had a loud party till 2-3 am Friday night (aka Saturday Morning). Many of you would have noticed how tired some of the fray boys looked over the weekend.
Other than that, I had a great time.... [Read More]
Im Philosopher. Those in mGG will already know me, being a member of their clan and all. Others may know me from BSG or other tournaments that Ai enter and inevitably fail at. some may know me from my noobish questions in the chatbox. worst of all, some may know me from the ladder...This is mostly directed at those who may have met me on the ladder, but I put this out to the community as a whole.
Im writing this because, as most in mGG and those who hang around the mGG channel on... [Read More]
So on Staurday and Sunday was ACL Brisbane and oh my god was it exciting. I was only there on saturday but I had a blast! KingKong took the 1st place prize of 1k with PiG coming 2nd and Light coming third. The biggest story of ACL has to be NXZ's run through the open bracket and pool play to take 4th place, taking out GLaDe, JazBas, PiG and tgun on the way.
Now onto IXL. I personally started off the day on a high, taking down ETLs Soundwave 2-1 and ToRDjvillian 2-0 (so much cheese ;; ). I then... [Read More]
So as many of you may know, this weekend Brisbane was home to one of Australia's biggest competitive Starcraft 2 tournaments, and I had the pleasure of not only attending but competing in it. Although due to the fact i had no way to get to the event on the second day i am stuck watching the stream, and suffering through that bloody Plantronics ad over and over. But enough about that I feel as though since this was my first ACL event it would be cool to kinda write a blog about it.
Hey! Glad you could join us, grab a seat, just not near the guy at the back; he smells something chronic.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Lokth, caster, funny man, future teacher and bullshitter, its nice to meet you. For those of you who do know me, heeeeey how you doin!
I have always wanted to do a blog about sc2 and what it means to me, but I have never known how to start or what to really say (two crucial things when it comes to writing anything really), but I decided I may as... [Read More]
Team Exile5 is happy to announce we have a new addition to our Starcraft family and we would like you all to join us in welcoming BrBr.Doombie on board.
In case you haven’t seen his stream, Doombie has created his own show called "Breaking Bronze" and is attempting to get to Grand Master status with lots and lots of practice and a little help from the community.
So far, he has managed to get to Diamond in HotS and ladders live on stream and with the help of a second monitor (and... [Read More]
It's been a while since my last post, with a complete overhaul in the structure of the SC2 in the announcement of WCS, I think this is a good time to catch up.
Before the WCS announcement climbing the pro-gaming ladder was very straight forward. GSL sits on top of the food chain as the ultimate goal for every SC2er. A tier below that would be MLG, IEM, IPL, Dreamhack, NASL, Homestory Cup. Another level down would be the global online tournaments, Playhem, ZOTACs. Below that would be regional... [Read More]
I've never been much of a writer. I probably lack creativity and am just boring in general. I've also been a bit of a lurker and don't really post much. But that's all changing, or at least I'm trying to change. I'm going to try and be more active in this community, whether it be attending lans/other offline events (more on that later), chatting more in the shoutbox/chat channels and playing in more tournaments. I don't really know what has... [Read More]
