Rules:
-All games are to be played on SEA Servers unless told otherwise by the admins.
-It is preferable that each player is to bring their own equipment, if not then there will be mouse and keyboard onsite.
-If there is a dispute then the players must see the admin to get a final result.
-Players who are in the event must not allow other people to get onto their computer for any reason if they are still competing in the bracket as it will slow progress.
This is the first LAN ran by DarkNoob and tRoy so we hope its a successful event, if there is any questions or issues feel free to Private message me. We are aiming to have some great Melbourne events in the future and for this to be just a beginning
NOTE: Seeding will be based on opinions of the admins, thanks for the feedback
A better way to seed brackets would be? Im new to LANS so unsure. And would SEA be better?
Its not hard to do a good bracket off an opinion based system. Just seed the players who are really good. Using something like px weekly is odd because if you look at somebody like Deth they will never play in something like that. Then you end up with something like Deth vs Pezz round 1 which is silly.
SEA is way better, I don't think any ISP's have bad ping to SEA anymore, you get like 50-100 less ping most of the time to sea.

The point is that this is a pX event, so they are encouraging people to play on their offline event and are rewarding people who do

I get that, but by 1 good player not playing in the px weekly, it ruins an entire bracket. Imagine someone shows upto a LAN, gets knocked into the lower bracket first round, then hits the loser of Pezz/Deth (hypothetical ofc) lower bracket round 1.
As for Optus still being shit ping to SEA, i'm sure MC wouldn't be using optus... if so, just switch to NA
I think there's going to be a few Melbourne players trying to qualify for AVCON, which is on the same weekend, is there an chance of rescheduling this?
Just seed of opinion/acl rankings or something IMO. Whilst I understand the theory of making it px points to entice people to play in your weekly, it really doesn't work for location based lans and casuals and even pros who might just happen to be busy the night px is on. Just by hosting this event you're enticing people to see your brand and support the things you do.
But as always, at the end of the day, it's your tournament, your resources, your time hosting it for US to win money, so do whatever the hell you want and see fit.
Thanks everyone for the feedback, ive edited the original thread with the new rules which include
1. Games on SEA unless otherwise told
2. Seeding based on opinions from admins.
Also in regard to the AvCon event, i believe the actual invite tournament is on this day. Unfortunately changing the date a week before i cant do because I'm in Brisbane, changing a week after is PAX so we cant do.
