I'm wondering how a protoss player could deal with a zerg who steals both their gas and then just goes roaches. Would be cool if a zerg could try this and c what problems there are with it.
I'm not an expert in PvZ; it's my least favoured match-up. However in the times that I have had both my gas-geysers stolen I've opted for opening with two gateways and putting some early pressure on with zealots. Assuming he doesn't cancel the two geysers; that's 150minerals he's not going to have for spine crawlers and/or zerglings as defence. In my opinion; using your first few units to attack the geysers your opponent has stolen just buys him time to continue macroing which is something you never want to let a Zerg do.

I think zerg geysers are like 15 minerals but taking drones into account that's like 130. But if he's really pesky, he can cancel rebuilt like forever. Throwing down a forge and doing FE might be nice tho.

The Zerg's extractor costs 25 minerals (+ drone) comes to 75 minerals, however that is a valid point although I wouldn't write out my idea entirely seeing that even if the Zerg opponent is determined on canceling and re-stealing the gas several times - he will always be at an economic deficit.

But I do agree, HuT's response is quite solid.
It also cost your opponent precious mining time from BOTH of his drones which means you will be well ahead in your mineral income, thus FE with cannons/zealots will be easy enough to defend off his roaches.
Not always possible but if my 9 probe get to his base and he hasn't build his gas yet. I'll try to steal both. And like I said, in bronze league everything and nothing is possimpible. I'll be one gate behind but I usually choke with protoss as well so by the time his zealot got to my base mine is there as well at the choke.
i did the doublegas steal(drones 8 and 9) and transited to roaches on xelnaga in the NA server. its pretty interesting and does quite well as a surprise move to throw the person off. total cost 150. but since the usual drone scout costs 50 and dies most times, its an extra 100 to delay his gas for quite some time. and roaches really eat zealots since they don't get sentries up on time.
so yes, its a viable surprise cheese strat in diamond---just beware of early zealot pushes before the roach warren is up if he doesn't start destroying the extractors
I've read a thread on TL that unfortunately that I can't find now that a double gas steal is basically a death sentence for the zerg/free win for the protoss player.
The reasoning being this. The zerg has expended 2 drones-100minerals + 2 extractors-50mins + 40minerals/min/drone of potential mining time. This is 150 minerals straight up front and easily another hundred+ loss in the first 5 mins of the game.
considering the zerg player has a queen and a spawning pool, and the toss has 2 gateways. the zerg is set back at least 150+ minerals and the 2 drones and the 2 larvae used to make those drones.
so. basically toss just goes all in with mass zealots and that's game
if the zerg player goes mass spine crawler, then the protoss player could expand, and macro up and get cannons to defend against roaches, whatknoot, and well, if you play it out fine, you've won too because of the econ advantage due to the larger probe count.
either way, i don't see how it'll benefit the zerg.
