It's back. SC2SEA's Who's Who Database, a comprehensive listing of the names and faces that make our little community what it is. The SEAlebrities, if you will. From Australia to South Korea to France, they're all here in an attempt to make the people you read about seem just that little bit more human. A huge thanks to Cute, paperclip and nirvAnA for the new up to date who's who! I should also mention everyone featured in our Who's Who is entitled to their own smiley on SC2SEA!
Thread mouse-overs:
Thanks to Tazerenix for coming up with a slick hover effect and paperclip for implementing it. Now when you mouseover threads on the tabs at the sides it should display the title and text of the thread much more easily.
Latest news is a new section added the the SC2SEA Wrap Up from this issue onwards. This section will provide a quick summary of all news topics posted between the last wrap up and this one. So without any further ado, here we go:
Easily the most exciting tournament this month with Tasteless and Artosis (Tastetosis), and HD and PainUser for casters, our very own Maynarde as MC, world class players and need I mention an amazing cake to top it all off. Read more about it here!
A new achievement added recently to fill a now obvious void in the list of community achievements. Hero of the Day is awarded to everyday members who end up in a singular instance doing something extraordinary.
The first member to receive this achievement will be Intoccabile19 for organising accommodation for 28 members for the WCS. This is no easy feat and we all appreciate the time and effort you have put in. Thank you for being the hero of the day for these 28 members of the SC2SEA community (Thread).
The second member to receive this achievement will be none other than our very own dot89 who arranged an extra special tasty cake for none other than tasteless at the WCS. Thank you for being the hero of the day (Thread).
One of the most active members in the community since her inception here at sc2sea (late 2011) even before her current position on the SC2SEA News Team is none other than our very own Rogue. Always willing to lend a hand to the community she is partly responsible for for the successful Plunder Down Under tournament (here), many interviews and now barcrafts in New Zealand. Thanks for being such a quality member.
P.S. I am happy to accept (through private message) nominations for the quality member and new member awards, after all I cannot be everywhere at once.
New Member Award:
Due to it being almost a month since the last recap and the number of great guys that started posting after WCS, we have not 1 but 4 New Members of the Month in this edition!
Inumbris - Jesse from Wollongong just joined his first BSG SC2SEA tournament. He likes metal music, loves eSports and has been quite active in community events and tournaments - talk to him at the CH SCII ROCCAT Cup which he is attending!
Mattyb21 - Matt from Launceston is a diamond zerg who likes to stream somteimes for funzies. He will be casting ThePandarines's Brone Silver Open coming up soon so check him out there! He also wrote a good post on how to solve problems in the strategy forum which can be read here.
A3Mercury - Meet Alan, a new starcraft 2 terran player who is currently in silver league. He used to be a MLG halo player in the past. He is from Texas and our first international new member of the month!
LaughingMan - QuanticLM from Adelaide was previously a lurker who never participated in our community until nirvAnA met him in a chance encounter on ladder recently. He casts for Quantic gaming and already produces some good strategy content on the forums and his youtube channel. It would be cool to see him casting some SC2SEA tournaments soon, and being a GM on random is quite a respectable feat too.
What do these guys all have in common? From their posts they are all new warm and helpful members who contribute to the welcoming and friendly environment we have here on SC2SEA. Some of them even go beyond and help with casting / organising to make the community a better place. We hope you guys stick around
Mafia 8 Winners:
The mafia battle was a long and mostly homicidal fight but in the end there was peace to be had... or perhaps tyranny?
Congratulations to Rogue the professional who on the first night consulted with lady luck and managed to get a lucky break using up both of her votes early in the game taking out the joker and resulting in her winning the game. It was very fortunate that she decided to use up all her votes that round as Ozliam, Revenant and I (from now on referred to as the ToRentinos) decided that her time in the Mafia Wars was up!
It was a grueling fight but in the end (for me) worth it as the ToRentinos ended up dominating the lovely SEAside village in the country of SCaletti. Unfortunately Revenant could not share in the victory, nevertheless congratulations to Ozliam and TheGentleman.
Clearly the hottest thread if not for all the awesome pictures for her awesome PiG..... ON FIRE!!
With many great pictures from the WCS held from the 10th of August to the 12th of August as well as many other collections and a promise to continually update with more pictures... if you haven't checked it out definitely go and do so!
