Both of those bits require a bit of force, don't be scared. As long as the cpu has dropped into place properly (the triangle is on the same corner as the one on the metal plate) and the groove in the RAM stick lines up with the one on the board you should be fine. Push the RAM sticks in a little then click one end into place at a time.
