YellOw's Assault on the GSL Code A!

YellOw, the famous Zerg player from Brood War is set to return to pro gaming. His aim: To make it into Code A after just seven weeks of playing Starcraft 2. Can he do it? It's possible. The chances are slim, and the odds are against him however. Follow YellOw as he battles his way through Starcraft 2 and trains to challenge the Code A Qualifiers in the next month.

Each friday, after the GSTL Venus League, a program entitled, "Project A" will be released on gomtv.net, as a free to watch video for anyone who is interested. For more information, check here.

I understand that this post is slightly late with regards to his challenge of the GSL Code A, but I wanted to see the opinions of the SEA community. What do you think was going through his head as he sought to challenge Code A? Do you think he can make it in any of the upcoming qualifiers in the near future? Post below and have a look at the VODS above, they are quite funny to watch .

Personally, I think his challenge towards Code A was as a fun challenge that got him just that little bit more fame. Ultimately, his return to SC2 would have revamped the love of gaming in countless ex-fans from 'back in the day'. If he continues to train, his entrance into the GSL Code A is guaranteed, as he has made an immense skill jump from Gold League to Master League in just one month (quoted from Lennx)!

I think it's depending on his understanding of the game , knowledge of the game , because base on the episode , even oGsTheWind said he's still playing BW style , if he can change and follow the trend and play with better knowledge of Starcraft II , i believe he will have a good chance.

Well to me what he's going through is just the same as every other professional BW player experienced when they switched over. So as long as he keeps at it, I'm pretty sure Lim Jin Roks will be a huge thing once again =D

I'm not surprised to see him not qualify. Although I believe if he keeps training he will be a force to be reckoned with.

I agree with Yang. The prospect of beating the best players in the world in 7 weeks is a joke. Doctor is right in saying that once yellOw changes his mindset, he will be incredibly good, and yes, Lim Jin Roks will be a huge thing once again . Possibly one of the greatest starcraft 2 challenges to date?

I seriously got chills after watching episode 4. I was so inspired.

And then seeing him (and BoxeR) eliminated at the Code A qualifiers by Forcefield Spam made me rage up hard and rampage through the KR ladder destroying every Protoss I could find.

Yellow just has that kind of sarcastic personality; people need to lighten up a bit lol.

I think Yellow and TheWind aren't a good mix and Yellow even told them straight up before he knew who his coach was gonna be. Yellow is laid back and like Nobunaga said, he's got a sarcastic personality. TheWind is extremely critical and I think Yellow's personality just gets to him and makes it worse. I wish they'd have asked him who he didn't want as a coach before hiring TheWind to do it.

Anyway it's still a great show and I hope Yellow sticks with it!

Yellow will stick with it and he'll be fine. In regards to the "conflicts" between Yellow and TheWind, I feel like a lot of it is scripted and over acted. TheWind and Yellow are old friends from the BW days. Most of the show is scripted imo. Yellow in Gold? Please... >_< People coming to SC2 that were ICCUP D/D+ were still placing Diamond with little to no prior knowledge of the new units in SC2. SC1 and SC2 are quite similar, in fact SC2 is easier to play than SC1. Not opinion, it's fact. Safe to say that Yellow is a little bit better than ICCUP D.

It's reality tv, Big Brother / Survivor style aka. sensationalism to make real life more interesting. Yellow is constantly chastised by TheWind and other coaches and laughed at, meanwhile Yellow laughs as well and bickers with them like they're old mates. Which they are. This is all because of the laid back nature of the show. It's for laughs and entertainment. The show is laid back, but Yellow's drive to excel at SC2 is not.

As it said at the end of episode 4, Yellow: "I am a pro gamer". The guy is an old school Korean SC1 pro, and if anyone in the whole world knows how to train when it matters, it's Korean SC1 pros. They have some of the most hardcore training schedules known to e-sports which Yellow is all too familiar with. I have faith that Yellow WILL be in Code A sooner than a lot would think.
