Hey everyone,

Recently I've been starting on the designs for our SEASL logo, some of our SEASL Overlays and etc.
Anyways, I think I'll start a thread here for feedback on my designs for Season 2 of SEASL.

Both are awesome. I dont really have any criticisms.

Its too complex, which doesnt look good when scaled down. Also the resolution on it is pretty average. If you're going to scale up images, you need to do something to offset the loss in quality.

I like that TL is a horse and sc2sea is a SEA horse that to me is an undefined amount of win

I think the first logo will look sick with players to the side and information under it for an overlay a but the blue effect stuff will be indistinguishable on lower res

I personally think the second logo is better. It is simple and delicate, while the first one seems to be a bit jumbled, either would be brilliant however. Are you planning to make more? Oh and good job making them.

I think people are missing the point here. This logo is meant to be the centerpiece for promotional stuff so the background is meant to be understated so the SEASL stands out. This will look good for transitional videos inbetween games and the SEASL will still be clearly visible if shrunk down.

Lets see if we can get this logo with a transparent background. It'll fit better than into our various posters and overlays

But what do I know? I'm biased =P

yea a transparet background so it can be used easily and as the standard logo in all our tournament stuff!!

Image qauality of the image is still significantly lower than I would even dream of using.

Text that took me about 15 seconds to insert. Look at the difference in quality. Sure you put alot of effort into the banner, but i'm not the kind of guy that pats everyone on the back for giving something a go.

Yeah like it has been mentioned it's overly complicated and needs to be transparent.

Also I am not sure I like the colours - maybe the original colours with some kid of wash to dull it or add rust or whatever may be better that making all the logos basically the same colour? You also might be able to improve the font so it doesn't contrast so much. You don't need it so bright and with such severe shadowing/embossing seeing it has the list burst or whatever behind it so there's no risk of it blending in with the brackground image.

As for the second image I think spend more time on it before submitting it :P It looks like you rushed it, which you did.

I think the starcraft font is pretty hideous. I get that it's a suitable choice, but I also think it's a little obvious and cheesy. The opposite of eye catching.

Yeh the shadowing is way to severe.

I like SEASL in starcraft font i think website should be in something simpler and if you were to increase the size of the image from its original psd there would be no quality loss on the font so i think that's entirely a moot point

Less is better - keep it to a single shape rather than all three race logos. GSL/MLG are good examples. I am not saying follow suit, but make SEASL the standout item (because thats what you want to promote - not the imagery) and the shape the background.

Well, first of all, I aimed this First Rough Draft onto something special - I originally thought of the GSL design, but I wanted to do something different on my first shot and not jump on the bandwagon and make a circle with a logo on top.

- There is a lot of feedback but I will try to talk to everyone about it.
1. Regarding the colors. Why I chose it was because I don't think I have the skills to merge the colors Purple, Red, and Yellow together (Zerg, Terran, Protoss) - The reason is because all three images, as somebody spotted immediately- were pasted on top of each other. But the biggest challenge in this draft is the Middle part where all three pictures don't fit in together. If I were to mix 3 colors into that same part, I honestly don't think I would have the ability to do so (I'm sorry for those who request it - But I think I just don't know how to do it unless somebody is willing to help me out with the design).
2. About having the background being too complex, I understand. It is a very eye attracting background and it steals the attention from the logo. I am open for opinions on HOW to make the background less "stand-out" - but for now, this is a design I am looking to work on - and won't be changed. (But I am happy if you have new ideas for my 2nd and 3rd draft that I will be doing soon)
3. About the Starcraft font - This is not the font I'm going to be using. It is purely a 1st rough draft (This image) of how it's done. My partner and I are going to draw our own fonts for the logo.
4. About the Resolution, I really want to know (Mainly for streamers) what resolution you are aiming for. Right now, this is 1000x1000 (I know it is fuzzy and not high quality) but I really don't know what you guys are looking for.

dont mean to hijack the thread but this gave me an idea

we might need a new banner at the top of the site as the one originally done by clammy has been with us from the start and would be nice to have something new with the SEASL season 2!

a new banner like #2 which incoproates the Seahorse and sc2sea would be good imo, but well more intergrated with the sites theme. anyone who wants to give it a try can PM me or post here for feedback.

the seahorse is definitely the best thing ever all logos should be based around the seahorse motif
