Hey guys,

I'm just looking for a general consensus of who would enjoy having a 'Best Replay Competition' run across a monthly timespan. There would be prizes for the best replays which are based on a certain theme each month. Let me know what you think in this thread,

Well we have had a good response so far! Just a little bit more about the topic, we will need a judging team (of around 3 - 5 people) and two people to be co-casting the top 5 replays of each month. These roles will have to be voluntary, however it will give you valuable experience in running and organising starcraft 2 competitions . On another note, the possible monthly challenge themes could include things like:

-Weirdest wins
-Easiest way to lose
-Rare builds
- Wins while massing only one unit throughout the game (excluding drones/SCV's/probes/ovies).
etc.

The possibilities are endless

Do the reps have to be from within the month or can they be older? i have one that was forged in a thousands suns but it was played 3months ago.

I like this idea a lot! Also, given that it'll run over the time-line of a month; it'd be a great to see like a monthly, hour long stream (or VoD) covering the top replays (and ofc the winning replay); which leaves a lot of doors open for you to even incorporate short funny and/or embarrassing replays (similarly to "When Cheese Fails" by Life's A Glitch!

What kind of theme? because funday-monday style (ie mass 1unit, etc) is neither fun to watch or play.

Have themes like:
Best comeback,
Longest games,
Most action packed game,
Rushes
Cheese
Epic QQ chat replay

Yeah I agree with Yoda that having different categories would be interesting and increase the exposure of potentially sweet reps.

Monobattles are awesome though, don't know what you're talkin' about.

Basically, the themes would change monthly. The themes that Yoda has come up with are pretty much the most fun to play and cast, which would bring a larger audience, and would likely be the first options. The only problem with the theme each week is that there would not be enough time to evaluate all the replays. It seems like this will be followed strongly by a reasonable crowd of people, so I will do a write up of what it involves in the next few days .
