Following the success of last weeks BSG Open (#01) we have decided to make this a weekly event! The VoDs from Unstable's casting of the event are available here!
SC2SEA.com's BSG Open #02 will be a 64-player event as last week there was close to 50 participants! The live-stream, casting and replay-packs that are associated with the BSG open are a great way for all players in the BSG leagues to watch, improve and refine their own game-play!
The hall of fame, for SC2SEA.com's BSG Open, thus far:
Date: Thursday, 6th of January, 2011. Time: 21:00 (GMT+11 - Melbourne, Australia) - 6pm SGT. Fixed world clock. Location: SEA Battle.net region. How to sign-up:Sign-ups are open! Visit this page to sign up! Casters: Live casting and commentary for the event will be available on Unstable TV featuring guest-pro Unstable! Prizes: After some discussion between Nirvana and myself, we have decided that the winner of the BSG Open #02 will have three replays of their choice analyzed by a SCII SEA professional! Having trouble with a certain match-up or don't know what you're doing wrong? Participate and hopefully win this tournament and you'll have some solid, tried and true advice to guide you in those future match-ups!
Rules and Regulations
· Players must be logged into SCII SEA region 15 minutes before their match-up. Players who are 15 or more minutes late will be disqualified and their opponent will be given an automatic win.
· Matches will be played as a Bo1, however both the semi-finals and finals will be played as a Bo3.
· Results of each game must be sent to me in-game at SkyBreaker.895 so I can update the brackets.
· Spectators will be allowed, however permission must be granted by both players in the current match-up. Referees and casters will also be allowed to spectate.
· If any disconnects occur within the first two minutes of game-play, the match will be replayed. However if the disconnect occurs after two minutes of game-time, then it is up to the discretion of the player who did not disconnect to decide whether the match will be either: A) replayed, or B) forfeited.
· All replays need to be sent to bsg-tournament@live.com.au, furthermore any disputes will be handled by myself after reviewing all associated replays.
· Any inappropriate behaviour will result in a disqualification.
Map List
The first map of each round is pre-determined and outlined in the following list. The losing player of each match will decide the subsequent map. The map pool is as follows:
Ro64: Steppes of War. Ro32: Scrap Station. Ro16: Jungle Basin. Ro8: Xel'Naga Caverns. Semi-Finals: Delta Quadrant. Finals: Metalopolis.
Brackets
Brackets are automatically generated when I begin the tournament and will be posted directly to this thread so you will see who your opponent is, with ease, throughout the tournament. When the brackets are created, it is your sole responsibility to find your opponent, their character code and add them in-game and begin your matches.
Prizes
The current prize will be all the fame and glory that is associated with winning a SCII tournament, as well as a short interview with the winner on the site (www.sc2sea.com). Due to the nature of this tournament, we at sc2sea.com have decided it is in the best interest for all players involved if the prizes focused less on money and items and more so on helping them become a better gamer!
Last week we had live-streaming and commentating from a SC2 professional (Unstable) as a communal "prize" - which was filled with a ton of useful information, definitely worth watching and tuning in for! After some discussion between Nirvana and myself, we've decided that the winner's prize for the BSG Open #02 will to have three replays of their choice watched and analyzed by a SCII SEA pro! So if you're having trouble in a certain match-up, even a certain map or possibly against a certain unit composition - participate in this tournament for a chance to have those problems that are holding you back outlined for you to improve on!
Live streaming and commentary will be held on Unstable TV hosted by Unstable, make sure to tune-in and use his wealth of SCII wisdom to your advantage!
Important Information
Pleasure ensure you have your correct SEA SCII name and character code in your sc2sea.com profile, which can be found here. This will help reduce any problems people may face when having to search for their opponent's character name & code.
Update (3/01/11) · The winner's prize has been updated in the OP!
· Live casting and commentary is still TBA, I will let you know what's happening in that regard soon.
I might contradict myself, but at least I dont contradict myself.
Srsly though, this should be epic, especially seeing it was advertised on battle.net! I am prepared to show that I am no longer of bronze league skill. :P
Update (4/01/11)
· The BSG Open #02 will be streamed live and have commentary from guest-pro Unstable! It will go live when the event starts on Unstable TV! Make sure to tune in, last week his tips and advice were awesome!
Glad to see familiar faces keen on participating again! Good luck and have fun all :>
I'm 70% sure I can play, will I be universally shunned and forever despised if I registered now and canceled later today? Or do you think there will be reserves for no-shows/cancellations?

Congratulations to MustaPusta (239) on winning the BSG Open #02! I hope you all had a great time and learned something along the way! The short-interview and replay pack will be up tomorrow!
Hi guys, as per usual, I have a brief interview with the winner of the BSG Open #2 (below) & I have also uploaded his replay-pack here. Unfortunately towards the end of the tournament Unstable had to attend a real-life issue, however the games that he did cast will be uploaded as VoDs on his YouTube channel.
Good evening Mustapusta! Congrats on winning sc2sea's BSG Open #02! What did you think of the tournament overall?
I think the event was terrific and a great way to help the lower levels gain confidence into progressing into the higher levels.
Definitely, the interest this week was insane! How old are you and where abouts are you playing from?
20 and from Singapore
What would be your advice to other BSG players who are looking to improve and climb the ranks?
My advice is to scout, scout and scout. even though I didnt scout much in my games, I believe scouting is very important as it can help you prepare for whatever the opponent is preparing to attack you with. Another important thing is to constantly produce units, never stop pumping them out!
I agree, that's probably the most solid pieces of advice to all players in the BSG level of game-play! As a Terran player; what match-ups do you have the most trouble in, and which do you feel most comfortable in, and why?
As a terran, I probably feel protoss is my hardest matchup, mostly because of how I have to change which units I need against different compositions. For the most comfortable, i'll say terran because you generally know what they are going for just based on the addons. And mirror matches means I have an even chance of winning.
What are your goals for SCII and the future?
My goals for SC2 for the future would be probably to hit diamond sometime soon, since school's eating away practice time. And thanks again for hosting such a fun tournament :3
