I was thinking about this the other when playing with some aussie mates who were at school. Coupled with the fact that people seem to think anyone over 25 is ancient, oh and someone in chat after a game actually asked "a/s/l?"
So, my question to you, before I say anything, how old are you?
There are some awesome older players out there though so don't let it get to you!
and your OP didn't say how old you are, people might be less inclined to share if you aren't willing, though on this site I doubt that will really be the case, there might already be a thread with it iirc!
hahaahh. There is a thread already, and I am 33. But there are older out there. I just find is amusing online at times, and now I know the reason with a lot of kids online BMing all over the place.
27 year old mum with 2 kids ^_^ Have been gaming since I used to sit on my dad's lap and play Wolfenstein 3D- I did the shooting, he controlled the rest of it

I'm a 27 year old kid. I have been gaming since my old man built a PC that took those giant 8" floppy disks and I played Frogger on it in the late 80's. I will probably still be gaming when I'm in my late 80's :P
Haha. We'll see whether I make it to my 80s. I'm vaguely worried that I'm going to die in a terrible canoe polo accident at some point. Regardless, I'll be playing games right up until that point.
Good to hear everyone is a gamer through and through. I too have been gaming for a long long time and still love it. I keep saying as long as I'm paying the bills I can do what I want!
Yeah...apparently it is about the same here in NZ but with SC2 I find that hard to believe
They count anyone who plays a game as a gamer. So that includes The Sims, Angry Birds, and any other little flash/iphone game. If it was just competitive games I'm sure it would be lower.
Add myself to this list of "old-timers" having turned 30 on December 1st last year.
I'll also add myself to the list of people with kids as I have 2 myself =)
We should put up a poll to survey the average age of the SC2Sea community, would be pretty interesting to see imo. I am weird and like statistics like that though...
I think it's important to note that age and life experience etc don't necessarily play a big factor in SC2-prowess. I mean, leenock and jjakji were 16-17 if I recall correctly. And to me, this is one of the greatest things about communities like these. SC2 transcends age, race, location, and even language to a degree.
The average ages of gamers in Australia according to a survey from a couple of years ago is 33.
The survey probably included a lot of casual console gamers too I think. Hell my dad still plays the old Day of Defeat on the PC and he is 61. He does pretty well... I just don't have the heart to tell him that he is actually playing against bots...hehe
29 here... struggling to deal with the fact that SC2 time is diminishing over time due to concerns over career and time with gf though. Once you reach the late 20's stage play time is nothing compared to my school / uni days but I guess I can still get like 20-25 hours per week.
I think Im the oldest ToR member coming in at 32 years with a 9 month old baby girl that I am starting to teach some basic micro.....
Give her the mouse and let the fun times begin!
My daughter used to watch Day9 with me and still gets excited if she sees him on though she can't watch it now that she's 3 and he's no longer PG13.
She also plays with my chips I bring home from the casino after poker.
Excellent parenting all 'round in ToR =)
Yesterday I found out that everyone in Team Eve is younger than me. Some by a lot and they were calling me their very own White-Ra. I started feeling bad, so I'm glad I saw this thread pop up today.
Well now I feel really young at 19, but hey I've always felt more comfortable being amoungst people at least a few years older than me so I guess I am at home here then.
hey all im 15 16 in a few months i was born the same year as the release of sc1 but it was my first game i played that i remember i was like 4 or 5 lol i did have power overwhelming on but oh well but yeah was the first game i completed as well and i still played sc1 till sc2 came out and i still play sc1 at school today so i must say even though i was born the year sc1 came out my life still revolved around starcraft lol
26, will be 27 in june...I remember telling my friend no new fangled space strategy game that sounded like a rip-off of warcraft could ever compare to red alert...LOL
17... 18 in October. I played BW when I was 12/13 but never attempted Bnet really until I was 15 or so and then I couldn't understand a thing so I just waited for sc2

Haha, yeah... after the Nemesis post I feel young now as well. I'm the big 25 in October.......... kinda sucks in a way. Enjoy your late Teens and early 20's while you can kiddies, coz it don't last forever

When I hit retirement, It's not going to be a nursing home. It's going to be a flat with a 24/7 lan party. That's how you do retirement in style.
22 going on 23 in October.. I felt old till reading this thread! But i'll be much older than all you lot before I actually grow up and stop playing video games.. (maybe when i hit 50 I might get a job)

19. One of the competitive CS:S kiddies that I'm sure Mayo has had to deal with a fair bit :P
I found out about the BW scene in Korea about early 2009 and really enjoyed watching it. Had nfi how to play so I just waited until SC2 :P
My dad is 48 and still plays video games on a fairly regular basis. Doesn't play competitively online though, unless it's for high scores in something casual. We used to LAN on the Doom95 launcher back when I was around 5 or 6. Was good fun ^_^
