I'm sure there's plenty of war3 players and I'm surely not the only one who has noticed Philbot's seeming absence of Starcraft 2.
For those who don't know, Philbot was, for most of war3, the best Australian Undead and the best Australian player overall.
He was pretty e-famous for his micro and devotion to one particular strategy DK/Lich/Naga/Fiends/Destros
What is more relevant I suppose is that he was seemingly best mates with Moon-Glade. Glade was the only other Australian player to give Philbot a run for his money and Glade eventually became the better as Philbot seemingly drifted into retirement. Wherever Philbot was, Moon Glade seemed to pop up too on replay sites etc.
Given Moon-Glade's success in SC2, I was wondering...what the hell happened to his 2v2 partner and fellow gosu Philbot?
After winning ACON5 (in 2005), his mother refused to allow him to compete at the Grand Finals in Shanghai (we sent Paz instead). She said he needed to focus on his study, and that was pretty much the end of his professional gaming streak. After this he went back to Reign of Chaos for a while before retiring. As a co-incidence, he's now the manager of the Hoyts cinema directly upstairs from the old iStarZone venue he claimed so much success from (now "Beyond").
(Kinda funny that you label them as best mates and 2v2 partners when they were worst enemies for a looooong time. )

Wow...that...is amazingly informative. Moon Glade and Philbot as enemies? Haha, that is kind of funny to hear. I honestly wasn't involved in the Australian war3 scene as much as the American (I guess not having an Oceanic server does that) so I was never too aware of what was happening.
So he doesn't play SC2 at all? He was a pretty god like war3 player in his prime, I'm amazed that he doesn't have some connection. He might have ended his gaming career but I'd be surprised to hear he cut off all connection with the Australian e-sports scene.
I remember when Philbot joined Mouz. I read a comment from some guy back then, "Philbot is so boring, all he ever does is go fiends". Back then noone ever went fiends... then 4 years down the track, noone ever opens with ghouls any more!
hahah oh man, we were as far as you can be from best mates, after i beat him in 2004 we were only neutral, before 2004 wcg we talked so much trash and hated each other.
He definitely had more success than me internatioanlly, but i always had his number ^_^
