SlayerS recruits first female StarCraft II professional gamer.
During 2011 GSTL Season 1 Jupiter league week 4 on the 14th, a beautiful girl was spotted in the waiting area. She is the first female SC2 progamer that SlayerS has recruited and trained.
Kim Shee-Yoon will turn 22 this year and uses the handle, Eve. She has won first place in an amateur tournament before but has no other experience with e-sports. SlayerS_Jessica herself scouted based on her skills and looks.
Joining the team in their game vs TSL in week 4 of 2011 GSTL Season 1 Jupiter league, she said, "I am very happy to join such a respected professional gaming team SlayerS." She also added that she played the original game in elementary school where she mained Terran, and her choice has subsequently remained the same.
She said she is a fan of MMA and looks forward to practice with her new teammates and become an integral part of the team.
You maybe be able to see her play in GSTL. SlayerS has expressed that they plan to field her this season.
Ok basically they have a female Progamer on their team. Her name is Slayers Eve
She is on the bench for the Slayers vs TSL game.
That's absolutely terrible in terms of being a progamer.
Esports already has too many girls getting by on the fact they're girls while not having the skill to back up their position.
Don't say she should be the next Tossgirl - Tossgirl was a joke, only kept on STX because she was a girl. She practiced far less than any progamer, and her lack of effort resulted in a lack of results, to the point even IdrA rolled her in BW (and made her cry, hoho). I'd really like to see a girl earning her place through actual ability like every other player has to.

Yeah. She's currently not that good but if she's dedicated enough, it really won't take long to be decent She was picked up for a reason so there has to be many positives and I can't wait to see.
PLZPLZ BE MORE THAN TEEEHEE, need someone to cheer for. (better be a macro terran and not a lame one )

If she's tee hee I've lost all interest, and lost a little stock in SlayerS for the PR stunt D: I'm sure she's there to impress though.
Nothing hotter than a lady playing macro and owning face at a high level

A big reason for picking her up may already be apparent, it gives SlayerS even MORE publicity. Also maybe Cella wants a good time . jks jks.....but on srs note, it's really positive to see SlayerS are creating more gender diversification on the pro level scene. Thumbs up for slayers ^^

Well, it's a nice surprise. Her handle, btw, is SlayerS_Eve. People are hoping that she will be the next ToSsGirl. She won an amateur tourney that probably has a lot of aspiring progamers. She's probably better than most players. I hope people are expecting her to be decent rather than roflstomp good.
I think it opens up a lot possibilities for SlayerS. It's a great business move, regardless of its outcome. SlayerS might attract more fans now (not like they don't have enough) and if she's good enough, she'll attract more sponsors from a wider range of products and services. If she's just good, then she can just say she tried.
Now that Eve is on SlayerS, it also opens the avenue for SlayerS to possibly recruit other female gamers like ToSsGirl to SC2, which would be great. As a small possibility, SlayerS could very well snatch a SC:BW B-team progamer like ToSsGirl off the benches to start playing in international tournaments.
Like IdrA, ToSsGirl is a B-teamer at STX Soul. Seeing the success of ex-SC:BW B-teamers (Nestea and MC were B-teamers in SC:BW), it could potentially be a wise move for ToSsGirl to move over. Plus there would be another girl on the team, so they wouldn't feel so lonely, and SlayerS_Jessica is big sister/ mother/ manager material.
Wait till week5 when they update the team roster. As she is not in the team roster at the moment, she can't play. Until week5, when they update the roster, we can only watch her from the sidelines.
how about pikachu? remember her from watching my local drama many years back
disclaimer: this comment was made with my 2nd brain.
Lol. Easy there tiger.
She got picked up by Razer a while back but haven't seen her do much for a while! Would love to see her come back. Hopefully on the bench for SlayerS, this new girl Eve will get a shot.
She seems pretty cute and its great that slayers picked up a female player! Hope more of that coming!
Plus she's terran as well. Not protoss like soooo many other female players T.T
Good luck plus she gets a +1 because of her slayers uniform. Very cute. I approve

Honestly, the last thing Esports needs is a high-profile unqualified girl to ruin everyone's impression of females in the scene even more.
?
She's a female player that is picked up by SlayerS and I'm sure with the amount of insanely good terrans in the team house, she will become a really good player in no time.
If a team is willing to invest time and effort into grooming a player, male or female, it is a good thing, no?
I don't see how shunning female players will help with anything lol.
I support all female presence in SC2, and one that is going to be in a professional team even more.
Last thing eSports need are people pissing on females. General stereotype reaction of an angry male "She's female, she's doing this for attention, she's never gonna be as good".
Yeah, sure, that kind of attitude are the minority of people who has a "bad impression" of females in esports. We definitely need that.

Don't be naive. It's publicly known she's below progamer level (diamond~, and her Clan account is gold), yet is brought to games and paraded rather than being kept on the SlayerS clan until she's at the level to play for the team itself. It's also been said she was scouted due to her looks. People see this, and draw conclusions.
The netizen responses have been anything but positive so far.
I really do hope she ends up pulling her weight, but using girls as publicity moves simply segregates them further by declaring the gender special.

I agree with what you say Xeen. But I still wish her all the best! To be given a chance to practise and learn in a pro-gaming house to eat, live, and breathe SC2 is just such a great opportunity!

It's quite a feat if Eve is actually willing to live starcraft. If she's GSL quality that'll be amazing but there's no reason she couldn't be playing in foreign tournaments within a reasonable amount of time.
It's obvious Jessica is very media savvy and with the foreign scene's explosion that this definitely turns heads.
There's no other example like that right now for other girls to take interest.

Another terran? SlayerS is already full of top level terrans, they really need to get more good toss/zergs into their roster. Seeing a terran play half the time in SlayerS matches gets a bit boring after a while. =/
Definitely agree with what xeen is saying, to pick up a high diamond player for a professional team is bad if it was purely based on skill, which it obviously isn't. Yeah she will most likely get better but will she get as good as the other slayers players? Only time will tell I suppose. However it is still an incredible opportunity and I hope she plays well
