Every fan has their favorite team. For some these are teams like the Chicago Bulls or the Brisbane Lions. For us its teams like teamLiquid, oGs, FXO, or The SCV Life.
(I always lol at that one) Recently however, one of the great American teams, ROOT gaming has been lost to us...
Don't panic though, it's not a bad thing.
I'm sure by now most of you have heard that compLexity acquired ROOT, and most of the team.
Paulo "CatZ" Vizcarra
Andrew "drewbie" Moysey
Chad "Minigun" Jones
Steven "Destiny" Bonnel II
Jung Ho "DdoRo" Moon
These guys will be joining the compLexity (coL.) SC2 division. And while this may have come as a shock to most, it appears to have been a mutually beneficial decision.
Jason Lake, CEO of compLexity Gaming had this to say;
“We couldn’t be more excited about this addition, Building a championship division takes time, patience and the right combination of players and management. The intangibles this group possesses and the passion with which it engages StarCraft 2 will definitely get us that much closer to being a top global contender. We’re not done building our SC2 division, but this was a big leap forward.”
While Edward Chang, Managing Director of ROOT Gaming gave his thoughts;
"We are very excited to join forces with compLexity Gaming. They've been a huge name for many years in many different fields, and I've personally known Jason for a long time. Joining up will help bolster the coL.SC2 roster and allow our players to focus on becoming the best in North America. We tried what we could to keep the team intact, and we wish Paul and Jo the best in their gaming careers. For all of the ROOT fans, please stick with us through this transition and cheer on compLexity!"
I'm sure by now though you've noticed that something was missing...that's right...where's KiWiKaKi and SLush ...???
Well they chose not to make the move to compLexity, but don't be saddened! As of very recently VTGaming have announced something very special. A new team, based on a Korean model, living in a pro-house in sunny San Francisco, playing Starcraft full time.
A team dedicated to the most serious and motivated players in StarCraft 2. Following the Korean model, Team Reign will be placed in a pro team house in the San Francisco Bay Area under VT Gaming LLC. The house will not only accommodate Team Reign, but provide unique opportunities to players from other teams around the world to come train. It is scheduled to open later this year.
How exciting! We lost a team, and got a new one! Personally I'm very excited for REIGN and what the future holds in store for them. I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say Good luck, to the former members of ROOT now with compLexity Gaming, and to the new team REIGN.
A note to craZerk/nirvAnA (delete before moving to main boards) I had some trouble with getting the images to embed properly, and unfortunatly with it being end of financial year I am rather busy at work atm. If someone could pretty please update with little country symbols and possibly this image http://i.imgur.com/wUs9n.png that would be baller and me would love you long time.
