Haven't done a site update in awhile so heres sc2sea 2.1 patch changes!

older stuff:

• clan page hosting for active clans which solves the problem of having them create and maintain them own page (and the little traffic independent clan sites get). we do not discriminate against skill / league, we only discriminate against activeness, if your clan is active on SC2SEA and does not have a bad reputation you WILL be hosted so get your clan active!
• news display has been reworked and is now neater and no need for spoilers, just use the + and - at the top right of the boxes. news icons have been added to differentiate between the categories of news (ty benji for the suggestion)
• new chatbox implemented which has many new functionality like PM in chat, private chat rooms and achievements/forum notifications been posted in chat. Big thanks to paperclip who helped make it so nice and pretty and who also fixed the reputation display bug some people were facing.
• Players can now request for name changes by posting in the name change thread. simple changes to name (clan tags) are for everyone. Major name changes require at least 50 posts or less than 2 posts.

newer stuff:

• In an effort to stop the "rep abuse" members blatantly abusing will be now permanently unable to use it. (1 user banned so far). If you dont wanna be banned simply dont abuse it, doesn't mean just because it can be abuse , it should be abused. Thats the wrong approach to have! This just means abusers are unable to vote. They still ahve reputaiton and you still can + / - their posts.
• Reputation display system has been reworked to make it harder to get medals/pips below your name. each pip requires 100 reputation points. 3 pips = 1 medal/star so 300 points = 1 medal (nerfed from 25 points pip 125 points medal)
• Reputation altering power has been adjusted to make it less inflated.

  • registered member for 180 days = +1 to rep power
  • every 400 posts you make = +1 (nerfed from 100 posts)
  • every 200 reputation points you have = +1 (nerfed from 100 points)

• Eddie suggested to list your streams now you need 30 posts and i agree (nerfed from 20 posts)
• A VOD Thread will be made soon for all casters who produce SEA vods.

• sc2sea tees added properly to the sc2sea shop
• Brand new replay system (Go dox!)

Anw the point of my post isn't that, but regarding the new quote functionality - is there anyway to disable / provide an option to disable it? I find it quite annoying actually that everytime I highlight text a little box pops up to block me.

not sure how difficult it would be, but I think it would increase traffic to livestreams that are casting tournaments/doing events drastically if you made it possible to have the streams listed right under the event in the calander (ie: blatently the same as TeamLiquid have it on their site).

Someone who casually checks the site now and then sometimes isn't likely to check streams etc. to see if someones doing a particular event they might be interested in (there is a LOT that happens in this community on a weekly basis, something most of us who are on the pc every single night without fail might take for granted for the person that only visits here twice or three times a week).

Ie: if under events it had

and stuff like

It's likely to get more viewers for the events, which = more interest = more sponsors = more money = more power = more women.

My thoughts on possible improvements / tweaks:

1. Not sure which web site you are refering to, but it would be nice to have a link in your profile to your in "sc2ranks" profile. Good for many reasons.... this could also be expanded for sc2ranks custom divisions for clans, sc2sea members, sea GMs etc. This could be used for various things... would love to have a link in the clans homepage to a sc2ranks list of all the members so you know what your ranks are...would also encourage more laddering!
   
2. An increase in subscribed threads would also be nice... given the increase functionality more subs would be good. Ie Clan Threads, ComL / Results Threads, D3 Threads... then if your lucky some threads that you would like to keep an eye on. Say from 5 to maybe 8?
   
3. Is it possible for the site to adjust its page size based on you screens resolution? It appears to be set up for widecreens so my LCD (1280 x 1024) can only fit the page in at 80% or you need to keep scrolling across to see the full page. Its a functional thing and with each thread over a page in size you need to scroll across to see the next page / last page buttons...
   
4. This ones been brought up a few times... but a little colour would be nice to freshen the site up. Nothing over powering but something that just makes it "pop" a little more without affecting the readability / eye strain. ie) TeamLiquid style
   
5. EDIT: Oh yeah.... about the "Arcade". It apears if you have had a name change the arcade posts everything under your ORIGINAL name. Changing the to accept you NEW name would be nice... also when you submit a score for one of the "arcade" games it automatically sends you back to the home page if you havent opened it in a new window... if you want to keep playing you need to go back into the arcade page and find the game again or just keep duplicating the page / tab. Anyway of redirecting you back to the games homepage or something?

These are only some ideas any by no means takes away from the medal website that it is.

There seems to be some window sizing issues on smaller screens. I haven't tested on a larger screen yet for comparison but on my 13 inch the forum windows and the right hand side widget column extend out past the borders of the background design and require scrolling to view.

It may be an issue with having fixed widths rather then dynamic ones or it could be a theme issue.

Dota 2 Thread!!! :O

I realized that sc2sea can definitely expand into a even bigger area other than just SC2, it'd be great to involve other REALLY popular games such as DotA into this site. I know that Australians have a strong thing with DotA, so does China, Hong Kong, for LoL and DotA. It'd be great if sc2sea will look to expand over just Starcraft and... Diablo which isn't really active around here.
