Pretty sure event #3 didn't have the new ladder maps.

Random spawn positions on bigger maps are part of what makes the game fun imo.

What they did at #3 was allow veto's. Was either 1 or 2 each. So not so bad, played on maps both didn't mind.

Mind you they might do something completely different this time...

Hey it's not my event, I'm just saying - It's pretty obvious what they're trying to achieve with these small events. Interstate exposure doesn't appear to be a goal!
As a local resident I appreciate 3 events rather than 1 larger one.

I think one of us is misunderstanding the other... were they not the standard ladder maps in January? Which new maps should have been in the pool for event #3?

I agree, more ones for locals is a great start, which will hopefully lead to larger tournaments, much like what seems to be happening in Sydney.

Yeah they were.

I was more saying to Gezza they used them last time, when they had a couple of other map options.

I was saying to you that they wouldn't have copied and pasted as changed a couple of maps, including 2 new ones, which indicates to me they are aware maps have changed, but these are the ones they've selected.

In Sydney we have 3 large cafe's running a single event every few months all competing for business, its a different thing.

Ahh, understood. Either way, I'll get in touch with Aseenus and try to get the maps updated. I'd say it's just an oversight after being out of the scene since the last event.

I hope they stick with ladder maps, rather than GSL ones, as not everyone plays or practices them.

If i had to suggest a map pool of 7, i'd go:

1 – Metalopolis
2 – Xel’Naga Caverns
3 – Tal'Darim Altar LE
4 – The Shattered Temple
5 – Shakuras Plateau
6 – Typhon Peaks
7 – Slag Pits

Close positions on Shakuras aren't really a problem since the update are they? No back rocks now. Big distance.

Close positions on Slag Pits would a lot worse than the 3 you mentioned.

Sorry - I meant slag pits instead of shakura. I understand there is fun in the randomness of positions however there is a reason why all major international tournaments (GSL, MLG, IPL, NASL) have close positions removed for shattered, meta and even shakuras [you always spawn opposite].
I am just suggesting if we want to XIN tournaments to be taken seriously we should atleast follow one of the basic rules of international tournaments.

The map pool is a little outdated, I mean when was the last time you ever saw a pro game on delta, slag pits or scrap station.
