the government were silly to sell telstra to the private enterprise. its caused us to have high prices for not much at all for years. the NBN wont be expensive. not from what guys at my work who have been researching prices say. basically the same as adsl. the govenment needed to own all the lines again. so its fair for all companys. thus giving us lower prices cause the other internet companys will not need to rent their lines off telstra. and i beleive it will be 10+ years untill its all complete. the citys will be done within 5. but if your in the country. we get the pineapple like always! lol

never should have sold more than 49% in telstra, wouldn't of had the massive problems over the last decade like we had (like telstra deliberately delaying the rollout of ADSL to suit their own profit margins and then massively undercutting other providers whenever they felt like it to screw with the competition)
as it stands, the revised business plan says the NBN rollout will be finished in 12 years (but i don't know if this factored in recent delays with getting approval from the ACCC)
NBN is a step in the right direction, there are always hiccups when something of this scale changes but for the most part it's good.
From what a remember reading telstra will look after/maintain the network but won't own it?
They also lack the man power to meet their targets, the majority of work being completed by contractors currently. If they had half a brain they would contract Telstra field staff for the task.
Blizzard wanted to put servers up in Australia, Telstra agreed. Before the contract was complete Telstra turned around and asked for more money, Blizzard said "lol **** off". Telstra - ruining gaming and losing profitable ventures.
