New to thread - I read 6 pages of this and just gave up because it was stupid. There are pros and cons about everything. Obviously, Kelly has a different accent, unlike the ones from America or Australia. But as someone new to the "casting society in SEA" (which is me), I find that Kelly is one of the popular ones from SEA and again, sexism - LETS FACE IT - it's everywhere. And honestly, it is smart of GOM to make a change and add a female voice into commentating, because it definitely starts something new for the Starcraft community, also promoting girls playing Starcraft.
I KNOW - people are gonna shout at me and say crap that I'm NEW to SEA at casting or whatever, but honestly, I am proud for the casting society of SEA to have somebody enter the GSL. As we all love to hear, SC2 is an INTERNATIONAL game. So what's wrong with having different accents in a game that is played worldwide?
I stand on both sides, I agree and disagree with this decision, but as many posts before has stated, I believe that Kelly will rise to the occasion of being in a professional tournament.

Never do that, its like interrupting someone half way thru a sentance and going I know what your going to say, when you dont, page 7 is where some actualy positive constructive disscussion happened(not much but some)

i dont mean to be rude to anyone but realistically there are only 4. including kelly that are erm, i dunno the word to be nice about it but, casters who would be capable of doing a high end sea tournament to an extent.

Starcraft 2 is also a SPECTATOR game if it is going to succeed, so the voice of the masses should be the priority concern.(not the jibberish BLAH I WANT THIS, but the contructive stuff if people honestly cant understand what she is saying is a concern.)

Who would you say are capable? And who would you say are not capable?

I've no idea who in SEA casts at the moment.
Benji and pheonix work hard at it casting well, kelly did some stuff before she went to gsl, If i had time i would but im flat out with FXOpen events atm and if mezza ever comes out of hiding he could too after some brush up prac.

First of all, the point of me putting this through is to just my own opinion, I'm not saying it in response to anyone in this thread - i just want to voice out my opinion, because every message is almost going in different directions. I'm sorry if I didn't read the 10 pages of arguements that don't change the results of anything.
Well, what I've only got that information off of youtube bro, don't have to be so excluding about the casting community.
The thing is Unstable, if the voices of masses (which will always be the westerners) dislike asian accents which Kelly only BARELY has, does it mean we asians, never get to cast professional games because of our accents?
I'm buying a ticket for GOM so I can watch Kelly and GlaDe. I've listened to some of Kelly's other casts and I think she's A-OK and I grew up in country Australia. Glad to hear that they are investing in you Kelly and sounds like you have the right attitude to go far with it.
GO SEA!!
PS I love you Nirvana for using the word douche in a mod post haha

Can I have autocast for Inject Lavae? kthnxbai
After watching the cast last night, i must admit, i am very impressed with how kelly did. And although i agree with alot of other people that the accent gets a little hard to understand especially during high action packed moments where Kelly gets really excited, i think she has HUGE potential, and i think the accent will diminish over time as she gets more experiance. I look forward to watching keely improve as a caster.
On a side note, the flirting with tasteless...... don't, he's married to Artosis.
Kelly you did a great job last night! You're commentary was superb, you picked up on some of the tactical situations that tasteless missed and u spoke clearly. I'm not just saying this cos you're SEA. You seriously did a great job and I've actually noticed a big increase on forums with people supporting you. Just the closet racists are left...
Love how you made a good joke about July and August and it went straight over Tastless' head Kelly Just one suggestion I'd like to give is to relax your body language a bit. You were doing a lot of pointing at the camera which seemed to show your nervousness.
Oh i also wanted to say to everyone giving advice about little things she could improve. I think its best to just let her ease into the job without the thousands of criticisms shes got mostly about being nervous on her FIRST day on tV! Who wouldn't be!
Im sure she'll be better than tasteless in no time, and the games are much more exciting with someone who avoids artosis style of "This player will win because of X and Y" analysis, which, whilst very often correct, sucks some of the fun and excitement out of this spectator sport.
in anycase, i think the key points to improve is vocabulary and pronunciation. i did managed to catch a short moment of code A in action yesterday night and i've to say the pronunciation is pretty horrible and quite a pain for my pairs of ears as i'm used to the casting by A&T.
however, with benefit of doubt.. and as a singaporean like you do, i will still support my country mate disregard to any scarasm or critics.
Sorry I misclicked the reply button and hit the thumbs-down button instead!
I think you might have heard of TotalBiscuit. Sure he's Australian, but we're on the same servers, so we're sharing him bwahahahahaha.
TB is british but yes lets claim him as an aussie 8D...
I didn't get the chance to see Kelly cast, last night was it? but you seem to working really hard to get even better at casting, It's good to know your having fun with it :3

I'm so glad i found this place. It's like the Kelly thing on TL showed me that there's a community here too! So thanks Kelly! You showed me the way to SC2SEA!
I was so depressed, i'm the only player still playing among friends. But am happy now! (i'm a dinosaur in trying to play that's probably why...) You guys are so great and so supportive of the scene and the forum peeps too.
