Negative brand association is a serious issue for sponsors. While the response to a negative attitude towards a team doesn't often directly make someone say "well iaguz is bm - I'm never buying kingston products ever again"... but when they are standing at the check out decided on Kingston or ACER ram - you will most likely subconsciously favour the brand that you have no negative associations with.
I'm not doubting there's better ways to handle it; but if you see a player being called out and responding accordingly, are you going to sit there going "You know what, tguns a dick, **** (x sponsor)"? Just for me standing up and defending myself, instead of sitting here and copping it?

What else am I meant to say when someone bm's me constantly? I've always said it, and I will continue to say it: if someone is going to be a wanker to me, I will accordingly call them a wanker. To do any less would be ridiculous, in my eyes; I've never, and will never, let people walk over me.

Also, direct comparisons to sport in this case are very.. bad? I'm not sure how to explain it. Professional players don't have as much interaction with the community; they have specified press conferences, MAYBE signings, that's about it. There aren't very many places you can just go and chat to them, so it's a very rough comparison, in my eyes.

I'll say again because I know it's a touchy subject, I'm not trying to direct some attack or anything. But merely just interested in this discussion. So to continue on;

Why do you feel the need to defend yourself? Why step down to their level?

If you are active in the community helping people out and contributing to the community in a positive way ie Helping lowbies with basic advice (I'm sure there are many other ways).... I'm sure the majority of people in the community will see that the advantages/positives far outweigh the disadvantages/negatives when they look at you. Thus, no need to even bother with the haters who want to hang shit on you, just ignore them.

Sooner or later you will find the community will just take care of those haters for you. This is when you can sit back and laugh at the amount of people who start hanging shit on those who just try to hassle you. This is what we call a strategy for developing a fan base, now once this fan base has grown to such a large number...... oh hang on where were we? haha!

Man I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to say, I don't think I need to elaborate on this anymore.

NOW GO PWN SOME ASS AND PUT SEA ON THE SC2 MAP!!!! :P

I never took anything you said personally: I'm sorry if it came across that way, it's just a sore subject for me. People always expect progamers, or those aspiring to be a progamer, to uphold a ridiculously high standard because they're "playing games for a living". They don't realise that when you begin to play for 6+ hours a day, a lot of the fun is gone.
