i iwll be going to the brisbane ones. Anyone else goint to brisbane... want to get to know some of hte brisbane players.
mOOnGLaDe and SenSei will be there! I dunno if TargA is going, and JimDiddy told me he's not interested in going to the ACL Sydney Nationals, so I dunno if he'll bother going to the Regional event. Guess we'll find out on Sunday!
If you get off at the valley, it's basically a 30 second walk up the street. ^_^
Yeah just get off at Brunswick St station, the place is pretty discretely located on Brunswick St, just as you enter the mall, first few doors on your right (with the centro/Brunswick St station behind you).
SO many awesome people going to brisbane, how am I going to find the time to interview all of you 0_o
Start with the most important people i.e myself and Chadmann then go on to some of the more unknown players like moonglade/sensei and if you dont have time dont worry about targa etc.
Just out of curiosity how many ppl going to any of the qualifiers that are under masters? i will be ready to get rolfstomped and have a hell of a time doing it also bringing along some friends to show them SC lan so hopefully it will be good for their first tournament spectataing event

sounds good thats what i really liked about ACL GC, was seeing all the different rank people playing and having fun and getting involved met people playing all the way from bronze to grandmaster.
isnt shuffle going to b at brisbane qualifies? I havent seen him play ince he got back but hes probs in beast shape atm after so long in KR. So targa/sensei/glade/diddy/shuffle all got shots at top 3
I've pencilled in my attendance for uni reasons. IF I go to Sydney, which would be purely to use as a uni project (and spend some time with my beautiful boyfriend), then I'll need some practice with taking a video. Going to be pretty nervous though surrounded by SC2 peeps and no Dox to look after me.

You can look after Kalikah! She'll be in the same boat without her beautiful-hot-dark-and-handsome-chocolate-eyed-walking-sex-beloved casting for most of the weekend. Also she is a new resident of Brisvegas having recently moved there.

I need a cameraguy/girl for the recap I might write, interested?
with shuffle, targa and a trained up sensei now entering the brisbane scene it looks tough probably for the first time rivaling sydney's lineup somewhat. and with glade / jimidddy looks like the podium will be zerg swarmed again

FWIW, i remember back in beta we used to think sydney would be so shit in SoO it wasn't even worth running one. Funny how things change XD.

I don't think so nirvAnA Sydney has Rossi, yoon, iaguz, PiG, tgun, MaFia, Light, not to mention pokerface, Ninja, HuT, Eldrid, Myuu, and glade is probably half sydney now i assume he'll be at most tourneys

Since all the qualifiers are all on the same day, and im guessing even with his super man skills dox wont be able to be at all of them, so who will be running all the different events in each city.. who do we look for once we arrive?

Sydney: Arnor/VaNzR/AusBox
Melbourne: Dox
Brisbane: JB (See below)
Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can park at the Brisbane event or should I train it? I know where Elysium is just don't know where I can park :S.

On the street is free on weekends. Plenty of spaces
I now have pretty much my entire production team wanting to come to Sydney, so we'll be filming and interviewing as much as possible there.
Can I ask that those providing their own content in Melbourne/Brisbane share some footage for a an episode of Inside ACL ?? Literally like 30seconds to 1 minute.... Will be chopped up and spliced in.

Wasn't planning on playing but we had an odd number of participants and I didn't want a bye in the bracket.
Played Rank 45 EveWest round 1. Decided to play Random and just dick around.
Game 1: vs : Went Reactor Hellion Expand into Tank Marine. Got crushed by Ling/Infestor.
Game 2: vs : Went Mothership rush. Destroyed him.
Game 3: vs : 14/14, blew all my Banes to breach his Queen blockade and out-micro'd him to win.
whoa dox finishes #3rd in PDU then proceeds to beat the Melbourne champion Westley with random no less. Pretty amazing.
how did you guys find the swiss format? it looks interesting maybe we can do that for some of the future SC2EA tournaments what do u think?
and how come Sydney had the traditional DE bracket?

Swiss bracket is decent for qualifiers and everyone gets to play a ton type things like the regional qualifiers. For serious competitions I think everyone would agree it has far too much going against it to make it legitimate.
Sydney was different format as it was actually City Hunters comp and ACL is just using their rankings as their ACL qualifier, similar to how ACL did last time with Adelaide.

Problem with Swiss bracket is that it needs too many rounds to actually level out properly. With the 6 rounds we did play, there were still quite a few ties and players that seemed like they were in the wrong positions.
Zenaku is a skilled quake-live player who's just started SC2 (not sure of his other gaming exploits) and seems to be doing pretty well. It's just unlucky that he has a similar name to our notorious friend.
Had a chat with him on the day (he was sporting a Zelda shirt!) cool guy, hope he keeps playing and turns up to more events.
imo the Swiss bracket is pretty good, but it's a hella confusing and there are too many tiebreakers.
I think it's good in a way that nobody gets kicked out and still have a better chance than losing the first game then losing in the losers bracket,
It gets everyone playing too, so players don't leave in the middle of the tournament just because they got knocked out.
I'm gonna be seeking feedback on the Swiss format before we run our next Regionals (3 months away), but for the most part, I think the real issue stands with Challonge. It's not logically matching people in some cases, causing more ties rather than resolving them. If we continue with Swiss, we may just have to run it by hand to ensure players are being matched appropriately.
But for now, we've got the Online Round 3 next weekend, and ACL Sydney in less than a month! Woop woop!
EDIT: I've also calculated the points from the BNE/MEL Regionals, just waiting on Chris to send me the definitive results from Sydney so I can do those, and then I'll publish the standings.
Not a great turnout in Melbourne, only 16 players. Bit disappointing considering we had 350 or so at the recent barcraft. Might be due to $25 being on the higher side of entrance fees, or not enough advertising? I know Perth, SA, etc have good state/community social online groups for news, etc. Does Melb?
Pc's were also pretty laggy, which hadn't really been a problem in the past at the venue in my experience. Not sure why this time.
Great time with those who turned up anyway.
Turnouts in Bris + Syd were great! Nice work ACL.

After 6 rounds in Melbourne, things lined up pretty well i'd think. Some could have moved up or down 1 spot, but more or less where i'd expect people to have ended up.
Swiss great for regional events, especially for casual players. Keeps people at the venue.
