Yeah sorry to spring that one on you so suddenly. I previously announced the tentative dates in the Q&A thread to try and give people a bit of lead time but unfortunately things kept popping up to prevent me from going ahead with the official word.
Also keep in mind that the Online Rounds are capped at 40 players per event, so don't waste time signing up guys!
is JazBas considering flying over?.. or are xGKing going to fly him over for ACL Sydney?..
Yeah xG would fly him, he wants to come to Sydney for an event (or 2, I may run a CH event the weekend after ACL Sydney) it just depends on his Uni schedule.

My Uni schedule around that time:
My mid semester break starts at 7th April ~ 22nd April so I can fly over and play if xG would fly me there
How long do the only rounds usually go for? It's a 10am start for me but I usually have work starting around 2.30 on Saturdays, is it worth me signing up and playing just as many games as I can, even if there's a chance I have to leave mid-way through it?
Also, I seem to remember somewhere you saying that the regional events will be seeded based on previous ACL results. Is this true? So the highest placing people from ACL Gold Coast will be seeded higher in their respective regional tournaments when sign-ups are complete?
Can't waitttt, I'll be at Syd regardless!

NP on the short notice dox i have the benefit of being a total baller at sc2 with no preparation at all
In regards to the time for competiton: Its really gonna take 8 hours to finish group stages? :s How many people per group I wonder? bo3 or bo1 etc, i guess it doesnt really matter just curious and bored at work lmao
And yeah definitely wondering same thing as lost on previous points for placements at last ACL!!! >.<
i think the regional qualifiers need a prizepool change..
Unfortunately due to venue hire costs and whatnot, we're not in a position to be tremendously generous with the regionals. The main focus of the event is the points you earn to be invited to the national event. From my own personal opinion though, I'd really love to see the regional prize pools go up, and it's something I'll be working on in future.

Yep - the people with the most overall points (ie. GLaDe, Rossi, PiG, etc) will receive very generous seeds at these Regional/Online events. They'll still need to qualify for Sydney though, so it's no free ride!

Definitely not. I've actually budgeted for ~5 hours, with 6 being the worst case scenario. This gives time for a dinner break, and the occasional break between matches. Some groups will wrap up in less than 2-3 hours, whilst others might be drawn out a little bit due to inevitable delays and connection issues. All games (group stages & double elimination) will be bo3.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention - there are only 24 spots left for this Saturdays Online Round! Better get in quick guys!

Dox the Map list on the ACL info website is different to the other list you have shown. Can you get that fixed really confused me at ACL GC and be good to aviod that confusion this time round

Can you please link me to the map list you're referring to? I updated the maps/rules page prior to making this thread (XNC/Crevasse out, Bel'Shir/Daybreak in), so as far as I'm aware everything should be consistent.
why is terminus and calm before the storm still in the map list?
calm before the storm lasted like 1 season of gsl before they found out that the map is retardedly imbalanced? and terminus is also one of the worst maps ever made..

I mentioned in another thread (I think the Q&A thread?) that we'd look at replacing them after season 6 had kicked off, depending on how comfortable people were with Cloud Kingdom & Korhal Compound. People have had a few weeks to familiarise themselves with these maps now, so what do you guys think? Would you prefer those?

I'm actually a really big fan of Cloud Kingdom and Korhal Compound. This season's ladder pool is the most "tournament friendly" pool I've seen imo
Obviously not going to playing in quals or anything but JUST MY 2 CENTS!
Definitely! I Really like Korhal the only problem I have with that map is its super easy for terran or toss to push down the side of the map to zergs 4/5th but other than that its a sick map, Cloud kingdom I feel a lil uncomfortable zvp until I get mutas up and then muta ling is sick on that map, pvt looks slightly in the protoss favour as well but probably only slightly, tvz is good on it too Definitely Implement those maps I think!
I'm amazed that people actually use Mutas on Cloud Kingdom, it really looks like the least Muta-friendly map ever! Scary stuff.
They aren't that bad on the map, just hard to get into the main with. Still good for harassing the nat and further bases.
Banshees, however is a strat that i don't think has any potential on this map.
my 2 cents - after watching polt play on cloud kingdom vs stephano/lucky in ASUS ROG and just abuse the terrain everytime like how terrans used to do it on the XNC third, it seems superrrrr hard for zergs to hold their 3rd base. it seems fine for other matchups and i like korhal.

haha... and korhal is the map with the ledge tanks can hit the third hatch from...
I need to watch those games of polt, then and learn how to abuse the cloud kingdom terrain.
Oh I havn't seen that, however its kinda hard to get to that position in my opnion.. but yeah dunno havnt actually played that scenario out. Yeah this ladder pool is sick, a pool where tal'darim and entombed are the only vetos? **** chuurrrr
Cloud kingdom. The only ledge over the third is in your main. I think if I get my tanks in there I deserve to get to siege your third, honestly.
As for the 4th on the low ground... there are other 4ths you can take. That particular base is incredibly easy to push into in TvZ though, certainly. It's a bitch if they walk two infestors up there and fungal a saturated mineral line, too.
I created a list of all of the participants, and the points they have earned throughout their ACL career.
From this list, I broke them down into 5 different tiers, sorted from highest to lowest ranking.
I distributed these tiers randomly, one at a time, across all 8 groups. So that's 1 person from each tier in each group. There is a hidden column in my spreadsheet which displays the randomly generated number for each player.
Due to 10 of the 40 participants entering without any points whatsoever, the weightings look somewhat deflated when you consider RyooMak & YoonYJ.
Over time, these numbers will even themselves out. Statistically, iaguz' group is stronger than Pokerface's, although in reality, it contains 3 players & 1 player.
Statistically, we can assume that the first seed in each group (Tier 1 players) are "guaranteed" to make it out of their groups.
Ah, Dox, I am a retard and ORGANISED SOMETHING MYSELF ON THE DATE OF THE 17TH. Derrrrrrpppppppp~~ Sorry, can you take my name out for the Online Qualifier 2 for the 17th of March?

Sorry for being a derp and a hassle ><
You sure you dont wanna pull out of online qualifier 1 too? So the groups get reshuffled?
I don't mean to critisize Dox, but one of my boys (shockwave) wasn't awarded any points despite his performance at ACL Gold Coast. He managed to qualify for the group stage and although he didn't progress he didn't lose every game either. I'm just wondering what the go was with that. 3 of my players are going to the event, 2 of them being Shockwave and elimzke, so I'm just making sure they both get a fair shot at getting into groups.

Hey Dox,
Just Echoing Solis' statement before, FvRShOckWavE here, I participated at the Brisbane regional, and online qualifier for ACL GC, as well as in the group stage AT gold coast (Where I bombed out due to a few reasons, let's not go there), Just requesting the points be fixed up (I played the last events simply under the ID, Shockwave)

Hey! I did the points for ACL OR1 as well as ACL GC. I've had a look at this and you should actually have 728 points.
I'm not sure what's gone wrong here, but it should be fixed up soon.
I've also updated the groups since Heha pulled out. HuT has been added in from the reserves - note that this is another unranked , so it may throw the group balance out quite a bit.
Also added a bunch of useful stuff to the page such as maps and vetos. Feel free to download a copy and save it to your desktop so you can refer back to this for information through the event. If possible, please play your matches in the sequence shown in the image below. It'll help things run a lot smoother and provide a small break opportunity for each person (at a time) in the group whilst the others are playing.
Yeah that's fine, I'm hoping to push the Double Elimination bracket forward too so we can get people to their Barcrafts ASAP. Groups are expected to finish at around 3:00PM, so if people wanna dive right into the double elim rather than take a break, then I'm all for it.
Okay to further re-iterate the point above, if we haven't finished the double elim bracket by the time people want to head over to Barcraft, I'm more than happy for people to postpone their remaining games for Sunday. It'll be totally on the fly though, so people will need to keep an eye on this thread for information. Either way, I'd like to play out as much of the bracket as possible tomorrow.
Gnight all, and good luck to all the participants! Please remember to wake up in time. Anyone who isn't in the channel by half-past will risk being walked over.
EDIT: Due to the limited number of channels, ALL results need to be posted in the channel "ACLPro".
So tomorrow morning, be sure to join both channels "ACLPro" AND "ACLPro #" (your group letter).
You'll also find the admins (myself & Norksman) in this channel, as we can't join each of the group channels.
Report all results in the following format, after each and every single game:
All replays can be e-mailed to: d.reball@aclpro.com.au - I'd appreciate if you zip all your group replays and double elimination replays separately, and label your e-mail with something informative (ie. Dox ACL Online Round 1 Replays Group C).
Some players are choosing to play their games now, others are postponing until tomorrow. Either way, you need to post in this thread, or the ACL thread and let me know if you intend to postpone a match.
I don't wanna get in the way of peoples' Barcrafts, so play as much as you can today, and we'll resume tomorrow at 1:00PM AEDT. That's lunch time in QLD.
Glhf!
EDIT: Pokerface can't make tomorrow, so he is gifting his spot to Ninja, who tied for 2nd place in his group.
Bump. There are a lot of people who haven't registered for Online Round 2! I'd expect to see a lot of the top finishers from #1 in there. Remember - these points stack!
Just a reminder that Online Round 2 is THIS weekend. Currently we have 50 registrations, with 10 of those being reserves. As always, be sure to rock up on time even if you're only a reserve - we actually used up ALL of our reserves last time and had room for more.
I'll be publishing the groups and stuff tonight. If you plan on pulling out of the event, you need to let me know ASAP, because I'm gonna be in Sydney for the rest of the week and won't have time to adjust the groups again until Saturday morning. And last time was a nightmare - I had to adjust the groups 6 times due to people pulling out.
REMINDER: online round 2 begins tomorrow morning. My plane just landed back in Melbourne, i'll publish groups when I get home. Should be up by midnight.
where can I find the tournament info and results and bracket etc..? For the recent CityHunter, not sure which one, but there was one a few days ago that my friend played, I'd like to see brackets etc..
