all hatcheries on 3, individual hatcheries with their respective queens on subsequent numbers ( 4,5,6...)

Solved. Stupid me. Forgot to have them all seleced to add to the hotkey.
Errrrmm, not sure if I have misunderstood you...But you know you can just hold Shift+ # and it automatically adds the specified building/unit to the already-created hot-key group?

Personally I have my hatches on 4, queens on 5, evo's rebound to my mouse, along with nydus if I ever use them. I inject using the backspace method, with backspace rebound to 'w'.
I use my spacebar as '0', so I can check on inject progress and such. Army on 1, Festors 2, counter/flank on 3.
There's a thread on TL about the 'DarkGrid' Method, you could check that out if your interested in a completely new hotkey layout. I've adapted my hotkey layout to mimic that whilst still making it feel comfortable for me.
I recently did the herd derp all queens on 4, all hatches on 5 and do a half-assed inefficient method of injecting with much mouse scrolling and redundant clicks to get between bases. As soon as SEA comes back online I'm gonna hardcore practice all hatches on 'W' with Queens on 4,5,6 because I really feel like my old method is holding me back.
However something that I'm generally interested in is if people individually hotkey Ultralisks or just chuck them in a combined hotkey with other units. I feel Ultralisks should be individually hotkey'd so they can go in first to soak up damage but rarely see people do it.
Hotkey - Reason
1-main army (ling,multa etc) - A - clickable
2-main army (bane, infes etc) - u will want some control over them (position, safety etc)
3-hatch (all) - make troop and inject
4-hatch (main only) - i only make production building on main
Just an idea.. but would it work to have all hatches and all queens on the same hotkey...
Select that hotkey then inject on to portraits in the selection group?.. if you tab to have the queens selected then v-click on each hatch - theoretically the closest queen with energy will inject...? anyone tried that method out.. might work well... ?
Otherwise, I use (when offracing zerg) 4-all queens, 5 all hatches and use the base cycle method to inject (bound to caps lock - if you ever vs my zerg and I say GLHF or GG in all caps, you know why >.<)
then 1 lings(and/or)roaches/hydra's, 2 banes or hydra's, 3 Muta's or infestors...
Often I use 1 as All army group.. so I can move them together then go to 2 or 3 to micro speciality units..
i really think this is a matter of preference, most bw players i see, like july puts their hatches on 4,5,6,7 and manually selects the queen. if you arent really quick id use 4,5,6,7 for queens or you can put all queens to all control group and use shift backspace but just rebind backspace unless your left handed lol
1- All hatcheries.
2- Army #3
3- Army #2
4- Army #1
5- Hatchery #1
6- Hatchery #2
7- Hatchery #3
8- Hatchery #4
9-0 are usually overlords for scouting.
A lot of Korean progamers use the 5-8 hatcheries to inject with. It's in my opinion the most reliabe way to inject because you can tap 5 and see how much time until your next inject.
