Big thanks to everyone who turned up tonight and for your understanding with the issues that we had with Pimp Pad and the move to Cyberhive.
To anyone who was interested in watching the end of our small tourney, we had issues at Pimp Pad with connection speeds and were unable to download the maps needed to play our games let alone any chance of streaming/casting. This was rectified with a quick move to Cyberhive who were understanding and accommodated us without any issues. The semifinals and grand finals were cast by Flamaga along with one of our other members and camera work from Brad(who rushed home from the city to stream at his house). Depending on how many replays were saved from hive we are looking at casting the reps at somepoint over the weekend/week and will be posted on the SASL youtube channel.
To go into some more details about the issues with Pimp Pad on top of the the connection speed there was also very little help/support offered from Pimp staff outside of a promise that the stream will be watchable (with speeds slower then dial up).
However not to completely bash on Pimp I feel that it only be fair to list the positives. Despite a FPS night that was a regular friday night event, they put aside more then enough computers to host our finals at the last minute along with having a small room set up with 3 PCs dedicated to streaming/casting.
When the manager returned from a event in the city he posted up an apology to the group and clarified the problem with their internet <copy and paste from his facebook comment>Internet Problems- This problem has been looked and found. I only just tracked it down. The GIANT adelaide Fringe parade crowd found something about our high powered, and fast, free wireless network... they found it to be free on their smart phones. The Pad should have thought of this aspect of human nature and passworded our wireless for the large gathering, we did not, and had our system slowed to a crawl and then (once i got a chance to look at it ) overloaded.</copy and paste>
He has also offered a credit of hours used to anyone from the SASL group who was at the event that can be used for gaming time or food/beverages. Along with the credit he has also said he will hand out a prize from their swag bag. Please do not take advantage of this offer and try to claim for more hours then you used. ^.^V
