Sure, if the thread page is long enough to take you past all the navigation widgets (unless you have them all minimised), so that you don't need to do any scrolling. However, in most cases you'll be either scrolling up or down anyway. Plus, I assume since you play SC2 that you have two hands, which can perform almost simultaneous functions. Home+click can be done in a tenth of a second.
I still don't understand why you wouldn't just Ctrl+Click each thread off the main page when you first load up sc2sea and then close each thread as you are finished with it while still having sc2sea open in your first tab.

1. Maybe you just dont like tabbed browsing that way
2. Maybe your computer doesn't have much memory and it can't handle more than a couple of tabs open at once (this site is a bit of a memory hog as I've found out through using various PCs at work)
3. Maybe you are using a mobile device/iPad

Apparently I can't give you rep at the moment. Great points though.
Since I can't rep, might as well reply properly.
1. Then you're doing it wrong.
2. o_O Even my computer can handle a dozen sc2sea tabs. What ancient monolith are you using?
3. Ergh. This website stinks for mobile devices. Well, that's a bit harsh, but it's less than optimised. Where's our sc2sea app?

2. I have to use a variety of computers, when it comes to procurement of software normally I test it on the worst one in the fleet to get an idea for how something will run. When testing software, obviously I am chatting on sc2sea at the same time, or else I'd have to find some other way to pass the time, like seeing how many forks I can stick in my eye at one time. Also, when doing anything coding-related, memory gets chewed fast

Haha, I think we've gotten just slightly off topic.
I am curious if there have been developments on the sc2sea app and whether nirvAnA has seen any of it yet?
