I agree that it's definitely possible, i started off this game in beta on NA on my friend's account in bronze as well and got up to diamond (was highest at the time) in a couple weeks!

There's a big difference between playing a Bronze account to Diamond and being a Bronze player who improves to Diamond.

The latter is a significant achievement, while the former is simply the system adjusting you to where you belonged all along.

I totally feel you on the "ladder anxiety" but those actually go away for me after I play a certain number of games in a row. So if I don't ladder for a long time, its actually exhausting for me to get started again. Sorry, I digress. hehe.

But anyways, like so many before me (and more credible than I) have said, this is completely possible. I had a friend who has no RTS experience whatsoever, no knowledge of SC2 or SCBW and its units, just buy the game, and jumped straight into ladder skipping practice league just after a handful of games in customs/vs AI., and not even having played the campaign at all. He started since the launch, and I doubt he's even finished half the campaign till now. But he's made it all the way to Masters in just about 3-6 months. After that, other priorities took up his time, but he can take out GM players, just that he has no time to ladder to get into GM. He analysed much of his replays, especially his losses, and why and where and how certain actions/decisions he's made resulted in that loss.
