Hey guys I need help picking a race and sticking with it. I've played zerg and i always feel that when i play them my creative juices start flowing and I do some really crazy + wild stuff, but when this happens I get to stuck in the creative side so my mechanics fail me.
As Protoss I'm in the game, focused on my build and the next step, but I feel like I am a robot when I play, just focusing on the mechanics which I'm still quite bad at.
Terran is in the middle for me. I can do lots of crazy stuff with Terran, but I can also go back to the mechanical side as well. Although I am worst at Terran because I haven't really tried making them my main race.
So what do you guys think I should do? Also how do you guys stick to a race and continue to have fun with it as well as improve?
I want to play to improve and have fun
I dont mind losing, in fact I enjoy it as long as I learn from it because I know that the losses I make are 1 step closer to diamond
Picking a race is based on your play style. From your thoughts, u seem to enjoy play zerg as you think of creative ways to play compared to other races, so stick with zerg imo.
You get better at mechanics with practice, but ability to think of ways to surprise your opponent is more important.
If you have dignity and self-respect, then play zerg.
I recently read an interview from TLO, who is now back to playing as random. In his opinion, random is a good race for players starting out, as if you lose badly in one matchup, you can take what your opponent did and use it in that matchup when you play in it. Its made me consider switching to random.
i've considered playing random many times
but im basically switching back and forth races every week now :S
I enjoyed playing zerg a lot when i was playing them but i felt as tho i wasnt really improving TT.TT
if anyone would like to help me please add me

mirco is very important for zerg imo. you have to keep consisting producing drones, get enough larvas and keep expanding to fully maximize the zerg power.
Zerg look ****** sweet, i started off playing them but it got kinda stale so i switched to Random, i found i suck dirty donkey balls at Zerg, i disliked Terran but felt kinda right on Protoss.
There's so many different openings as Protoss + warp gate shenanigans and you can be an absolute fuckhole and spawn shit right up his ass.
I had almost the exact same problem when I first started out. I was initially drawn (very strongly) towards Terran, switched to Zerg for a change of pace and enjoyed it a little, but could not handle the mechanics, so I switched to Protoss. Protoss was fun for a time but became stale for me very quickly. After some careful consideration, I decided to sitch back to Terran and am now enjoying it very much.
Lesson learned: Go with what you are drawn to. You said you like Zerg, and want to play Zerg - you should play Zerg, then.
Having trouble learning mechanics? Set up a few AI games and get your larva spawning, fast expanding, and other Zerg-specific skills down pat. Jump into the Zerg challenges, I found the Terran ones very inspiring for playing my chosen race.
Do research online, play custom games with friends, do 1v1's, 2v2's, 3v3's, 4v4's and FFA's to learn your race inside and out. You'll learn a ton and have fun to boot.
Yeah find something you like about the race and make it your goal, i have a huge ******* manboner over Phoenixes at the moment so i am trying to learn build orders involving them.
Find a unit or build order that you get horny over and try nail it down, or just wank really hard to zergling pictures or something.
Queen on Queen action? shitting creep on each other while Overseers oversee... ****** hot baby

@OP: I'd suggest playing random for 20 or so games; win or lose - just have fun and see which race you enjoy the most and feel the most confident with and stick with it.
In terms of sticking with the one race and constantly having fun and improving is easy; set goals for yourself. I.e. try to get your openers for all three match-ups perfect, try to know how to handle all types of "cheese" and all-in strategies and try to learn how to react to everything your opponents may throw at you.
When I first played through the campaign; I was settled on choosing Terran as my race online (things like utilizing drop-ships, upgraded marines & marauders and ghosts sold it for me) but after hunting a few custom game achievements; I just loved the Protoss style-of-play; the units (especially the immortal/phoenix) and haven't looked back since. Well I lie, I was contemplating switching to Zerg a week or so ago; till Nirvana told me to stick with Protoss :P
Also, now to be biased... roll Protoss, join the Brotoss and you too can play this song proudly:
As Destiny sang on his stream to eminem - lose yourself:
"If you had to pick a race, which one would you choose? Would you choose terran? Or, would you be a ******* retard and pick protoss?"
I found zerg to be 50 times harder to learn than the other two races, and I still find it harder to play. But I feel that playing zerg is a better indicator of real skill. I see protoss to be the Deathknight of wow when they first came out. Any retard and his dog can get glad.
Once you get good at zerg, transitioning to either of the other two races is easy because their mechanics are far more simple. I think if you want to play random it is important to master zerg first.

all of you helped a lot
my favourite unit in the game are marauders :P
concussive shell + stim gives me nerdgasms
using drops and the variety of builds is amazing i like zergs creative side but i like being in control and not being the one that reacts but causes a reaction
so after considering a lot of things i want to play terran
i get inspired by pro terran games and i want to be able to do the creative things they do
Nada and BoxeR are amazing and they inspire me
so thanks for the help everyone but please keep on providing tips to stick with a race
i am looking in to a VERY aggressive race.. one that allows me to be on the constant attack..
i was a terran but i am now with toss since 4gate is pretty agressive imo but everyone is able to defend a 4g reasonably now.. so could anyone advice me further?
Try blink stalkers, either 3-gate or FE-6gate. Very agressive protoss play, which is not all-in, unlike 4-gate. You will have the joy of annoying the shit outa ur opponent, and have enough mobility to maintain control.

Any race can be played aggressively but terran gives you the most options and cool units to micro like stim marines with medivacs, banshees and helions. If you wanna just attack people constantly and throw them off balance then terran is the race to pick. Especially because of the ability to swap addons with other buildings and thus suddenly change your tech.
I found my liking of Zerg is because the Zerg streamers are just so much more entertaining then Toss and Terran streamers. Toss and Terran usually just stick around their base, while zerg is always off doing something.
So if you want to get into Zerg, check out some streams. I highly recommend SlayerSCella, Sheth, and to an extent Destiny. For 2v2 Protech is one the best Zerg's.

Talking about streamers, how about our very own moonGLaDe!! He streams often too and the timing is probably more favorable for those with work/school in the day time as compared to the NA streamers.

hi rim, i tried 3gate blink stalkers but my micro suck like hell.. lol.. it's a 100% lose rate with blink stalkers as now.. i will try FE - 6gates and let you know how it goes.. Thanks for your kind comments!

HI PIG!! kinda wanna ask you this as a zerg user, how would you compare zerg aggressiveness to terran as what you have commented? cos terran seems to need tech which takes time.. =(

some zerg's like idra/ spanishiwa is econ oriented.. not quite my style.. crazerk as a zerg player and a head writer, in your opinion, is zerg able to play super aggresively like what cruxis say.. a zerg stream?
Please dun get me wrong.. i dunno if what i said sounds trolling to you but do understand i am not at a good caliber sc2 player.. i am really bad at micro.. i didn't mean to diss you off in regards to blinks stalkers.. i have seen get plays of blinkers from top toss player.. just that i cannot do that lvl of micro.. =(
if it does feels like i trolled on you.. i am sorry.. didn't mean to...
Just my two cents, I reckon that definitely the race you choose in the end should suit your personality (sounds like wishy washy, but I think you'll get more enjoyment if that's the case).
However being quite noobish myself, the way I've gone about it is to just play a race and stick to it for a while until I'm bored. All the races have something which is more important to itself than the others (eg. Z need to establish bases if they wanna live, terran needs effective scouting as it's the weakest in this regard, etc). So they can all contribute to your gameplay. Finally, learning all of them allows you to find out each races' strengths and weaknesses so you can exploit them.
I've played zerg and terran alot now, but because I've never played as protoss, i only have a vague idea of how to pin them on a build...which is why i lose to them more often than not...
choose a race according to your playstyle and level of commitment you want to put in the game
- if you like micro management and harassment while at the same time being able to multi task and macro your ass off - if you're good with unit control and can execute cleverly thought out build orders well. the easiest race to get good at - if you're fast and mechanically skilled and want to take advantage of that. probably the hardest race to master - if you're just in it to have fun and just want to play casually, this option by far provides the most fun and variety
