2) You must write your character name and code (e.g. HDPhoenix.202) in this forum or any of the forums the SSL is posted in
3) You must send an email, with your handphone number to HDPhoenixx@gmail.com (this is for admin purposes only)
Important Info:
1) The cost of the tournament is $0.00. All LAN Time is kindly sponsored by Colosseum, which is on the 7th floor of Iluma, at Bugis!
2) Date of Tournament: 29th January, Saturday, 6pm - 9pm. Come at 5pm for registration and admin processing
3) There is no more SSL Wildcard. Instead, it is now the Singapore Amateur League (SAL) and will be first hosted by MysteryBox, at basement 1, Golden Wall Towers. For more info, visit the other tournament thread on the SAL.
4) Number of competitors: Unlimited players. Due to popular demand, SSL will no longer have a player cap. Instead the top 2 players from SSL Dec (Oxygen and Revenant) will be seeded in the Round of 16 and the rest will battle it out in 7 seperate group stages. Those that place highly (top 4 in any recent tournament) will be seeded random in the 7 groups, with the rest being randomly placed after that.
5) GROUP STAGE: Will be online. Registration opens today and ends on January 14th. I apologize for the late notice but I could only confirm our location today. Group stage will be played on Jan 15th-16th, 6pm to midnight SGT and your matches can be recorded on Challonge.com. Starting map will be Xel'Naga Caverns and each match-up is a best-of-3. A win counts as 2 points, a lost counts as 1. 3 Marshals will be online, as well as myself for score reporting. The Group stage ends Jan 16th midnight (All matches not played counts as 0). The top 2 in each group stage will advance to Round of 16.
6) Round of 16: The Round of 16 will be streamed LIVE on Jan 22th, starting at 6pm. It will be best-of-3, single elimination. Starting map will be Metalopolis. Round will be played till Semi-Finals
7) SSL Jan FINALS: Finals will be played offline, LIVE at COLOSSEUM on Jan 29th, starting at 6pm. It will be best-of-3, coin-toss to determine starting map. All current SC2 starting maps are open, with players about to veto 1 map each.
Patch Notes for SSL Jan:
1) Unlimited Player sign-ups: We did this to accommodate as many players as possible, so the group stage was added in to facilitate that
2) Only Semi-finals and finals on Tournament day: We did this to make it more exciting and less draggy for viewers + more time for community events!
3) Is there things for spectators to do: Yes, there will be LAN computers opened at special tournament-only rates before the tournament and there will be a Raynor's Party tournament as well for spectators! Check out the seperate Raynor's Party Tournament page! There will also be event-only specials for Colosseum LAN time so be sure to take advantage of that!
CONGRATS TO nGenRefallen for walking away with 1st place!! inF takes 2nd and aLtOxygeN takes 3rd!! Congrats to our winners and thank you to all our supporters, players and viewers!!
Yupz. Spectators don't wish to sit through 4-6 hours of preliminaries, and we're gearing it more to be entertaining for spectators while keeping the excitement and competitiveness for the players.
Its just a trial. If players prefer to play the entire tournament offline like SSL Nov/SSL Dec, we can make changes for SSL Feb. Nothing is concrete just yet
SSL Group Stage is played over 2 days, and since its league format for group stage, just play what matches you can on Sat. The rest can be finished on Sunday. Matches that aren't played are worth no points thou.
oh crud. we're playing tomorrow and the day after? Just got down to reading the nitty gritty T-T Im celebrating my birthday tomorrow kinda made reservations already for a suite in Sentosa O_O could i play my matches after I get back on Sunday evening? T-T Else I'll have to pullout bleagh. Was hoping it would be slightly later heh.
well apparently my account got locked out by blizz due to change in login location so my account has either gotten hacked or some glitch on blizz's side.
i've emailed blizz and will try to get my account back. if not i'll play people in my group using a borrowed account tomorrow evening
Hey Phoenix I have a question, how come tDpXavi has almost the same score as me but has more points? Does a loss count as -1? He has 1-2 i have 1-3 he has 4 points while I have 3?

For those that are confused, the brackets for seeded and random placements is JUST for placement into the groups. That is NOT your group stage tournament, unless you wish to play 25 sets of Best of 3! Lol. Check your individual group, I already took great pains to set each group up and list your names for clarity.
Try to contact them on SC2 or here in the forums. Matches can be played in any order for the round robin and can be played either tonight or tomorrow night, to be more flexible to everyone.
Matches not played at worth no points, unless one of you is nice and forfeits.
This is inFiJix, I will like to forfeit from the competiton, sorry about it! I really have no time to take part in it, all the best to the remaining players.

Is it possible for spectators to come to the tournament, I'd be interested in coming if they are allowed
Spectators are more than welcomed. There will be prizes for the crowd, Raynor's party for newcomers to SC2 and for massive laughs, special event only discount for Colosseum LAN time! Its meant to be a show. So bring your friends and have a good time while we watch the best in Singapore clash in epic SC2 action on the 50 ft screen at Colosseum!!
If you have a dispute, pls post and I will attend to it when I next get internet.
p.s. on hindsight, this was not the right way to run the group stage as I am aware of the timing issues for setting up matches. This will be addressed for SSL Feb and I thank you for your understanding as we work through these initial tournament running issues.
p.s.s. I now sound like Ghostcrawler, so I get blue text. Yay?
ìt feels fairly arbitrary that the group stage ties were concluded as such with no prior information as to what would happen in the event of 2/3-way ties, wouldn't it be better if there was a playoff to see who would advance? especially seeing as we have something like 3 days from now till the ro16

I acknowledge this was an error on my part for not disclosing the way 2/3 ways ties would be handled but given the time I had (+ I was doing these brackets at 2am in the morning), I made the best choice I could. If GGMuse and GGBinu would consent to have a 3 way playoff, I am fine with that. If not, my decision stands, sorry.

I am putting you 16 in the Challonge system then hitting "shuffle". Then I was just swap position 1 for aLtOxygen and position 2 for inF with whoever is taking their spot.

Yeah, i saw that and it was really weird. It should be 2 pts for a win, 1 pt for a lost and no points for an unplayed match. When I did the brackets for Rof16, I took into account your actual points, not the ones Challonge reported. Its my first time using their brackets but if you still think you should have qualified based on your points, let me know and I'll take another look. Nothing is set in stone yet
If you were 1-3, then your points should be 5

No sorry. Qualifiers are held on 22nd. I know its rough and I am REALLY disliking this group stage system I am trying out for Jan. I am sorry but it was an experiment. For SSL Feb and esp. SSL Mar (which should be over $1000), this will be ironed out. Essentially SSL Jan was to test group stages and qualifiers over seperate dates. Obviously, it is totally failing.
Won't happen again. Qualifiers and finals will revert to a single day after SSL Jan. In the meanwhile, so sorry to those inconvenienced by this group stage system.

Sigh.. I totally forgot you know. Thanks for bringing it up. I did the brackets late and wasn't thinking. Even now, I just got off the plane and I'm already doing this. Let me check the brackets again and reply

So does that mean that I should have qualified? I'm still a bit confused about this, but thank you for helping clear things up a little.

Yes, that would place you not as 4th in your group but as 3rd. However, you need to be top 2 in your group to advance. Sorry

Ok, I checked and updated the brackets for Group 3. I crossed out DsDPsyche so it immediately awarded the win to everyone else. Allura and HynopticPoo advances with 4 wins, 1 lost each for a total of 9 points. I'll make the change on the front page as well
Wow... ok, my phone just exploded with SMS once I turned it back on... I've made my decision.
There will be NO ROUND OF 16 THIS SATURDAY... All 16 players are invited to SSL Jan LAN at Colosseum and play their matches there. Single Elimination remains the format. Between SMS about the rubbish way I ran this, and the multiple tournaments happening this coming 22th Jan, I feel moving everything to the 29th actual day is better.
Let me confirm with Colosseum first, but tentatively, there will be NO Round of 16 this Saturday.
Once again, I apologize for the messiness and I am thankful for all those that have stepped forever and offered to help me or are already helping. SSL Jan itself will be a great show and so will be the SSLs for the rest of the year ^^
Ok, I'm going to crash! Night! If you have further issues, post here in the forums.

Hey guys, give HDPhoenix some breathing space. There are bound to be hiccups while running events, and this happens to be one of them. He's one of the only people contributing to hosting SC2 tournaments in Singapore on a regular basis, after all.
Sorry for informing you so late, I just saw your post :x
No problem. Sorry for the late notice myself, I could only get Colosseum to confirm today and immediately posted it. I'll inform the next in-line in your bracket, nGenJuicy about this.
nGenRefallen takes 1st place at SSL Jan!!! inF takes 2nd and aLtOxygeN takes 3rd!! Congrats to our winners and thank you to everyone to came, fought and supported!! Much appreciated!!!
Joshua aka "Sparrow" and Ed aka "DDengster" are the new event writers for MSS, and will be covering the event for us!
Once again, the best players in Singapore meet at Colosseum to battle it out for glory and cold hard cash! The board is set and the pieces are moving, at the end only one will be crowned Singapore Starcraft League Champion January!!
