Bronze then silver is a bit harsh. We only have one bronze player who is in a position to play - if he can't make it or gets promoted then we're boned.

How about the first two players have to be either bronze or silver?

Bronze player doesn't show? In the words of Professor Fransworth (Futurama) / Professor Putricide (World of Warcraft): "GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!" If they don't show, they have a WHOLE WEEK to show.

Also as Syn stated, if the player was Bronze at signup they will be treated as such / counted as a Bronze for the team for the season.
