Reasonably priced mouse?

My current one is finally on the way out and my birthday's coming up so I feel like treating myself :P

Any suggestions for reasonably priced (<$75 AUD) mice? Doesn't need anything fancy like weights and not wireless. Going to do some research now but figured here would be a good place to ask as well.

If you're somewhat competitive SC2 player I would recommend Razor mice I've got a copperhead it's awesome. I would probably look at getting the Lachesis if I was to get another mouse.

I would recommend the Razer Lachesis, Mamba or Deathadder (the one I currently use) depending on your preference. It might help to know what type of mouse grip you have and the mice that are suited to it. Razer has a pretty good description on this page.

I understand that at retail (or on their website) Razer stocks them above your budget preference, but if you look on Ebay or search using sites such as staticice.com.au you should be able to afford them.

Defiantly recommend it

I think my grip is somewhere between palm and claw, depending on what I'm doing if that matters :P

Death Adder seems to be a pretty good choice by all accounts and I found it pretty cheap on ebay too

How big does it feel though? I've got pretty big hands myself (21cm palm to end of middle finger, 11cm across at widest).

you should jus go to the shops to try out the mice yourself, there is only so much our advice can go. in the end, its really up to personal preference. You should seriously give all the mice a try first before deciding on which 1 to buy. afterall, they are not cheap. As for me im using a deathadder and its perfect for me, love the ergonomics and the side buttons which i use for DOTA.

Before going on ebay, hop by

www.msy.com.au

I was surprised to see them selling the razer keyboards and mice there at a much cheaper price than the website and most ebay sellers. If you can get a better deal on ebay, go for it but I suggest going to MSY first.

The big PC part warehouses like MSY and Umart are definitely worth a look. Much cheaper than games/electronics stores!

Not sure if MSY ship these does or not. PCCaseGear have the deathadder for $2 more than MSY, though.

I would say the death adder (i really like it )
Its size and shape make a great feel.. although that will vary depending on your hand size
Also razer mice have a great material they use which is slightly grippy and just really nice haha.

or if you wanted one of the more ergonomic shaped ones, a Logitech mx518 was quite nice for a while..

But from my experience with a Lachesis i really wouldn't recommend it, It broke twice on me and just gave up and bought the Logitech.. I then did some research on the Lachesis and it turns out it happened quit alot, having problems with its sensor or something.

Having said that though I believe there is a newer version of the Lachesis?
So not sure if my experience is outdated or w/e.

But try go here http://www.mwave.com.au/Mice-Mouse-c-2403.asp
and order it from price to find your price range, you dont have to buy from there but you can get a good general idea of what your options are.

GL with your search!

It depends on how you hold your mouse, are you a palm gripper or claw gripper?
Claw: Steelseries Kinzu / Steelseries Xai / Logitech G9x
Palm: Razer Deathadder? (Apparently can use claw grip on it too even though its not designed for that)

OR you can use my $15 starcraft progaming mouse: the microsoft basic optical mouse v2

deathadder is the best value for money mouse on the market. drivers are good, firmware is good, lasts at least a couple of years and has no trouble being packed in buses, trains and planes whatsoever.

It really depends on how you hold your mouse and if you prefer low sensitivy/high dpi to high sensitivity/low dpi.
Being a pro FPS gamer I've always preferred the fluidity of low DPI/high sensitivity on an optical than laser.

If you want low DPI definitely go optical:
Deathadder, Abyssus, Kinzu

If you prefer high DPI:
Imperator, Xai, G9x

You will have to feel them yourself to see which one feels better in your hands when playing though.

Can pick up a Razer DeathAdder V2 from CPL for around that price (could be slightly more, but not significantly) and it's a great mouse as well. Good luck with your choice!

hmmm personally i like the g9x cos of the grip changing thing and its weight change. i have used the salmosa before and yea though its light,it seems fragile to me. still, i will reccommend the g9x cos of its features and the most important thing is... it's used by many pro gamers! :P still,at the end of the day, pick the mouse tht u like an enjoy using. test it out yourself. thts the best way to choose a mouse.

There are many great mouses out there for cheap..infact the best mice are usually less than $50. As far as preference in RTS games you don't need a perfectly precise mouse like you do in FPS although it does help.

http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=2024663

Refer anyone who buys a mouse here. Any of those flawless mouses 3,5 and 7 buttons are great and relatively in expensive. The razer abyssus is very popular with RTS gamers i think because most use the "claw" grip, beware it jitters on some cloth pads. Also do your research on mouse pads because some mice wont work as good on certain types. Technically you could add the Zowie Mico to the list aswell.

Most gamers still shy away from laser mice as they tend to have neg/pos accel and don't work well on some surfaces and depending on screen resolution can be buggy. There some "ok" ones out there though.

Hope this helps someone.
Ps. Esreality is full of fps hardware nit-pickers and so are pretty good to rely on. Maybe SCsea could start a similar thread/threads to help out the fellow sc2 player?

Agreed on the razer abyssus, and great choice with the deathadder. It pays to do your research. From my own experience i have owned 2 steelseries mice, the kinzu and the ikari. Both i have been thoroughly disappointed with due to having hardware acceleration(meaning there is positive/neg accel in the actual hardware that cannot be removed).
