Apparently this is not the case. See below quote from Ice sent to me on Skype.

you can either choose to submit 4 players and choose your ace from one of them
OR
pick 4 players and a seperate Ace hence the 4 players then the ace

Important note.. if you don't reveal the ace, the ace must be from your starting four. If you do reveal the ace the ace must not be from your starting four.
