Professional and serious gamers are never interested in 4v4 and I myself dont play 4v4 competitively. I dont care if I'm diamond or bronze in team games but to be honest, I've played quite a number of epic 4v4 games. If we only hold 1v1 tourneys,we will only manage to tap into the network of solo players which is quite small. The mass market is in the 4v4 game. Im sure that a lot of top players out there will be excited about a tourney tat caters for 4v4 players. Like I said, I dont enjoy 4v4 as much as I enjoy 1v1 but if there is a 4v4 tourney, it will attract a lot of participants.

You say 4v4 is more popular, well heres some stats from sc2ranks:
1v1 Players on Ladder: 26737
Team 4v4: 2822 (x4=11288)
Random 4v4: 14514
Assuming theres zero overlap (and there is quite alot of it), theres more 1v1 players than 4v4 players. Not to mention in a 4v4 league, the brackets are 4x smaller, meaning that even if you get the same number of players, the tourney itself could only be 3 rounds deep. With 64 players, you only get 16 teams which means you only have 2 rounds of games, then the semis which is not very good for watchability.
