JookTo/Purefix Smurfing incident. (may not be JookTo)

Hey everyone, I think at this stage its unfair to assume that Purefix was JookTo smurfing and we shouldn't punish JookTo for this.

Most of you will know about the recent smurfing incident from the most recent Masters Cup where the player 'Purefix' played and did quite well. Until Paperclip uncovered that the email used to sign up the purefix account was the same as one used by JookTo (this email is on display on his twitch stream) additionally the IP or connection (paperclip will have to explain the technicalities) was directing back to Korea. Additionally, KingkOng has stated the 'funky' and very original build used against PiG on Akilon Wastes was very much a JookTo build. So we could assume from this that 1. Purefix was not a SEA resident 2. it was likely to be JookTo and subsequently was smurfing in a SEA only tournament (claiming to be from Brisbane - gave an address in the city that I believe was not a residential address...).

With this information and as a personal distaste for cheating I decided to talk with the Clarity Gaming manager in hopes to clear this issue up. He assured me that JookTo was not playing in this competition and after discussing with JookTo, told me that a friend of his was using his email to create the account. I know, this sounds like dodge tactics 101 - but I believe the manager and JookTo and it was not in their nature to be deceptive. Of course the only true test is to conduct hotkey analysis. I've viewed games (as the first part of hotkeying is to check the actual methods they hotkey with) For example; If someone said a smurf was me, and I use the capslock hatchery cycle method and this guy used hotkey seporate hatches - then it would be clearly not me.

This Spoiler shows the visual hotkeying of both Purefix and JookTo
+ [hoykeys] +

I had trouble sourcing Replays of JookTo - if anyone has some, please send them to me. However I do have all three games from both PiG and Petraeus's series against Purefix and viewed a VOD of JookTo playing (within the last 3 months).

PUREFIX
1 all hatch
2 natual (added after nat taken)
3 overlord
4 overlord
(at 4:00)
(queens not hotkey'd)

with roach ling timing
3 roaches
4 lings
(at 8:00)
5 extra queens

late game
1 all hatch
2 natual hatch (this hatch does not become Lair/hive)
3 roach/hydra (main army)
4 infestors
5 spare queens (not inject queens)

JookTo - (casted VOD Feb 1st 2013)
You Tube
You Tube
early game
1 overlord
2 overlord
5 Hatch

late game
1 army
2 overlord
4 natural hatch (this hatch does not become Lair/hive)
5 all hatch
(queens not bound)

More to come..

These numbers are noticeably different, however they have a similar patern (just different numbers), which lead me to think about changing the bindings in the hotkey menu of each control group to different numbers would easily make it look very different and be a very effective method of covering up your smurfing, but there would always be the similar pattern.

Comparing these patterns and rearranging the position of Hotkey's produces the below analysis (including direct un-rearranged hotkey comparison) - Note, the JookTo game is a ZvP and the Purefix is a ZvZ and build hotkeying may be different in the match ups. (I know my hotkeys are slightly different in each match up/type of build)

+ [hotkeys] +

All hotkeys. The method used to rearrange the hotkeys in the third example is a simple switch between what is hotkeyed and put into the same order as JookTo (to see the cycle/spam method)

I know there are a lot of comparisons and to some extent the patern's are very similar. I feel that the late game is significantly different but the early game shown in the closer comparison is very similar. Additionally, the build used vs PiG on Akilon Wastes is a very, very unique build. A build that KingkOng has stated to be exactly like a build JookTo had used against him before.

TLDR:
JookTo has denied it was him, but admits that it was his friend using his email - however refuses to divulge his identity. Hotkeys are similar in pattern but not the same. Need more info to be conclusive, but I don't think Purefix is JookTo at this stage. Need more match up comparison

Evidence for:
Email used (email used to sign up Purefix account to SC2SEA is JookTo's email)
Kr IP (JookTo is in Korea, not in the Clarity house, confirmed by Clarity manager)
Hotkey Paterns (to some extent)
Unique build

Evidence against:
Hotkey numbering

Please excuse the formatting of this post, I was writing as I went through a bunch of info and bits and pieces. If anyone has recent replays of JookTo from HotS, please send them my way.

Edit: just before posting, I found another replay and was so confused, am now presented with another set of JookTo replays, this is confirmed to be him but again, slight differences. I'll upload with this post replays (can fit 4 in this post, will post the others up soon). and have more imgs up soon edited into this post. Also, I'm starting to notice a spamming similarity to JookTo with purefix constantly rallying a hatch in the early game.. Someone with more higher knowledge of this game, please look into these replays and look for these traits and let me know your thoughts. Thanks. (will compile this all into more points soon, just done for the night).

Final thought tho, there is a feeling that it is, infact JookTo. But with claims such as theses we must be 100% certain before claiming that someone has cheated in this way.

Honestly just from this I would say that it wasn't jookTo himself and just a friend using his e-mail. Now we just have to find out who it was.

Pretty simple if he is telling the truth, and he is simply covering for the real culprit, it makes him just as guilty in my eyes

Here are the other replays, please note that there are different methods used by JookTo and both have these similarities to Purefix.

Will upload a bunch of screenshots soon with the hotkeys.

He may not be hiding them, he may just not know which of his friends it was

Keep in mind that sc2gears reads the hotkeys as they are in the game. So you can set hotkey 1 to 3, which results in pressing 3 coming out as 1 on sc2gears.

like lemminks said, in JookTo's case he would press 5 and on purefix's "hotkey" readout it would appear as a 1, every time he pressed 1 it would show 3 etc.
also arnor makes a good point when he says covering for the culprit is just as guilty

Whether he smurfed or is allowing and covering for someone is the same
Smurfing or facilitating smurfing is a knowing breach of the rules on jookto's part so he should face a ban

Didn't we have a similar situation with Sensei? Shouldn't the punishment be the same then?

But its not conclusively JookTo. If anyone else wants to have a look thru the replays, or has more recent JookTo replays. We can make a more conclusive opinion on the matter.

I thought Sensei lent his account to a clanmate?

Quick Comments
 syfChadMann:
not a clan mate.. but Sensei's thing was conclusive.. JookTo's isn't
