I have been put into a lot of thoughts into this.. for our second Starcraft 2 tournament, it seems like collecting $5 from each participants (out of $15 entry fee) for a profit is not even that good money..
So Internet City will be doing a pizza run with the money we collected from participants! We will have a viewing room with a TV showing the live games until the finals. So it's a pretty good damn reason for you spectators/players to stay until the end for free pizzas and drinks!
Sounds good? Then come and watch - play and stay!
Also we will be putting 32 computers in total for players to play.. Therefore we may be able to put get more people to register and play.
Date: Saturday, 19th January 2013. The tournament will start at 10am. (Check in time: 9:30am)
Location: Internet City, Level 1/93 Albert St, Brisbane CBD
Entry fee: $15 ($10 will be put towards the prize pool)
There are no league restrictions, players of any skill can join. Spectating is free, of course. There will be a viewing room with a TV and players or a commentator will be commentating random games. (please refer to Aiya's blog and Internet City's facebook album to get a gist of the viewing room (at the bottom of this thread)
The tournament will be played on the South East Asian server.
Tournament format: Double Elimination (losers bracket BO3 or BO3 from eight players from LB), all Best of 3 (2x Bo3 for the grand final)
The map pool will be: GSL Metropolis, Daybreak, Ohana, Cloud Kingdom, ESL Entombed Valley, GSL Whirlwind
Each player will veto one map from the map pool and then flip a coin/rock paper scissor/decide amongst themselves for first map choice. Loser of each game picks the next map.
There will be a lunch break between 12:30pm - 1:30pm
BRACKET WILL BE AVAILABLE BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT.

Other information
Sponsors are welcome and will be very appreciated
Players will be allowed to bring their own equipment (mouse, mousepad, keyboard, headset etc). While some computers are more than capable of running SC2 with the highest settings, we recommend using medium options to prevent any unfortunate events.
There will be at least 24 PCs dedicated to running the tournament, players will need to report their results immediately to the counter once they are finished and they will be told to either pack up for someone else to use the PC or to stay to play another game. We are aiming for as little downtime as possible, so this is imperative to the smooth running of the tournament.
If you have any inquiries please post in this thread, email me at kyungjunim@gmail.com

It will be on 19th January. I am trying to decide map pool and all that sort of stuff. I want to make this tournament interesting so the map pool may include GSL maps and Kespa maps - not just ladder maps
First one was great, Iv gone back to internet city a couple times since then and its an awesome venue
Recommended every one in Brisbane area come along to this either to play or to support (the viewing room on the side is awesome). and Jun and ic are bosses for hosting these

Some people already know but we have a Starcraft 2 tournament on 19th January, this Saturday. There are a few reasons why this is more exciting than the previous one.
1. Computers 'should' be in a better state as we have upgraded many of our machines.
2. A stream will be online, casting interesting match-ups and players. CryingPoo (who used to cast on SlayerS players streams) will be casting many games and all players/spectators are welcome to cast or co-cast if they wish!.
3. There will be a viewing room with TV at the venue. Couches and chairs in the room. So socialize with others with the same interest (i.e: e-Sports and girls) while you are discussing about the game!
4. There will be free pizzas and drinks towards the finals.
5. Let's see if xGKingKong can dominate the local tournament....
1. While I am trying my best to keep computers to the top notch. The recent patch seems to be causing FPS drop issues on nVidia cards. I will try my best to resolve the issue. But remember, players are highly recommended to play on the lowest options possible.
2. There are total $160 (assuming all 32 players show up) that will go towards pizza and drinks. If there are more spectators than I expected, spectators would need to chip in a gold coin or two.
i will be coming on Saturday. first Lan tourney ever gonna be very exciting . i cant wait to watch .
Any Ruling on interviewing players hosts of torney, veiwers etc ?
EDIT
it is sad that i forgot meet awesome people in original post but yeah meeting some peeps will be awesome!
PS i will be bringing a camera and will take a metric F**k tonne of photos if i can.
Sorry in advance if i get bad photos of you and for the bad quality of the photos ( old camera )

Fun day, cool to see some familiar faces again. Sorry I didn't stick around for long. Computer issues & sleepiness & heat wasn't compelling me to stay.
- aLtNXZ who took a map off KingKong, came second, got idk I forgot how much it was it was 310 * 0.25 - $2.5 something!
- iVnForbz who came third!! who played an AMAZING series against KingKong (you played the best games to watch today IMO!)
Some people (Dox and iVnForbz) had computer issues and Jun was very sorry about this. He blames the latest patch as 3DMark and FPS on other games are fine.
Jun will be now working hard on organizing a Barcraft in Brisbane.
And as you see this is actually Jun writing this having a personality/interest clash between a manager/community event organizer. Internet City is happy for a more experienced person to organize the next tournament. So Jun can do.. many things.. he wished to do while organizing the second event.... ;P
Umm what else.. oh yea!
Good night all!

lol Jun likes to talk about him self in the third person.
Today was an amazing LAN, and IMO a BIG success. Lots of players, HEAPS of spectators, and a huge amount of fun .
Games ran smoothly, we all had time for a lunch break and the pizza at the end was awesome. I didnt get too far with a 2 win 2 loss series record today, but I still really enjoyed my self, and me and my friends that came to watch will definitely once again be returning.
My only 2 bits of feedback to improve on came from the increase of Spectator numbers (which is awesome ). 1. A fan or or something to help circulate the air in the spectators room (can get pretty hot in there with so many people). 2. If there is any way that the TV could be elevated so that once the room is getting full, its easier to see from the back, doesnt need to be too high, just abit more.
All in All really fun Tourney and cant wait for the next one. Internet City is definitely my go to Internet Cafe, and the first one I've enjoyed this much.
Really bummed I couldn't make this one. Kingkong was the heavy favourite coming in but nice job nxz taking a game off him! Hope there's more of these LANs in the future
Glad to help Jun, btw, just saying,,, totally called the order of top 3 at the start of the day, King Kong to win (surprise), NXZ who has been tearing up the Brisbane scene for some time now, and Forbez whos been improving soo much latly. I miss the days where i beat him

Congrats to the final 3 enjoy ur monezies
Well the brackets did work out that way but honestly it very well could've been a different top 3 if brackets had differed. I mean whoever is on KingKong's side is auto guaranteed a free path into losers xD. For example if you'd been on forbz's side and he'd been where you are there is a good chance it would've been you finishing top 3 over him. But yeah, definitely solid picks.
Really enjoyed the LAN, finally experienced the grind of a losers bracket and was most definitely not impressed xD. However it was a lot of fun to hang out with the guys. Gratz to the sick Korean nerd baller KingKong who performed as expected and crushed through everyone. Also big gratz to forbz who probably had the closest game with him at the event. Lastly, really well done Bolger who came within inches of knocking me out of the losers bracket.
Signs was awesome, had a lot of fun playing our games and also chilling with domo and complaining about THAT ONE BUILD (rofl forbz). Also forbz is most definitely the patch zerg killer with some amusing comments throughout the day.
"Such a patch zerg just sdddddddd then fungal"
"Just waiting for you (NXZ) to beat everyone and play me in the losers final" (when I still had like 5 rounds left)
Also domo and birkses puns were fantastic as usual. Perhaps the most amusing note to end on was that my mouse broke at around lunch time and we had to buy a new one at jb-hifi. This replacement cost a whopping $75 which was the money I won for 2nd place. Well gg son.
Really great day, had fun with everybody, no low notes or problems I can state. So cool how just before the finals KingKong asked for people's phone numbers for new gamer friends hahaha.
It was smoothly run and the viewing room was nice, however, a fan (not sure if Alpha posted this) for some air circulation in there would be nice?
