Having a large bank can be good or bad depending on the time frame. You're being a bit too vague here for us to know what's wrong.
In the earlygame, banking shouldn't happen. Inject better, make more macro hatcheries, use your army a bit more so you're maxed less often. You seem to know what to do against floating in the early game, unfortunately these things don't always apply in the unique zerg lategame. If you're floating in the early game, then you're either forgetting to do these things ingame but knowing what to do in theory (a problem I have sometimes) or you're doing something wrong mechanically (focusing too much on something other than floating, like creep spread, scouting, or army movement) or your apm is simply not high enough.
In the midgame transition into lategame (because let's face it, there is no real midgame to zerg ) it's okay to float a little bit of gas and minerals so that when hive is done you can make a lot of upgrades (3-3, greater spire/ultra cavern, possibly zergling attack speed) and to build a round of tier 3 units when your cavern/greater is done. You will probably float a LOT of minerals as compared to gas (I like to hold 3 minerals : 2 gas) so making some (maybe 10-15 in total) spines instead of lings are a good idea, as they cost basically 1 larva and 150 minerals.
In the ultra lategame, you can also float a lot simply because you want to be able to remax very quickly on roaches if you manage to trade armies, and because you're maxed a lot of the time anyways and spend more time just trying to get the most out of whatever army you have. In this scenario I've floated as much as 5k/3k in a legit game.
