Ok, so basically we were discussing in chat box one of the greatest fantasy series' ever written (IMO) and we decided we should have a thread for it.

Basically this thread is for the discussion of both the book series: A Song of Ice and Fire and the TV adaptation, A Game of Thrones.

Please be considerate to those who have not read the series and hide spoilers using the spoiler tags.

Also if you have not read the books, I highly recommend them. If you are too lazy for that, maybe watch the TV show, although it is basically soft core porn, so younger people maybe just read the books?

Now go ahead and bitch about the characters you hate, the ones you want dead and of course the parts of the books you love.

If we do this we need 2 threads, one for books and one for spoiler like TL has. Just to make sure the book people don't spoil it for TV showers.

Books 1-3 are amasing
Books 4-5 not so much
I feel like like Martin got caught up in his own little world and forget how to write an entertaining story in the end.

In the book it's a lot less rapey. She is sorta against it as she is riding there but eventually she wants it lol.

ADWD(5th book) endings have too many cliffhangers and it doesn't link much to AFOC(4th). The standard of the books is on a slight decline. But I'm hoping for GRRM to get his stuff together and not die before the series is done.

What do you mean it doesn't link much?

AFFC and ADWD are the storylines of separate characters. The whole point of having the two books separate is that they don't link.

I expected ADWD to continue from the start of AFFC for the characters not mentioned to continue on after the same time frame of AFFC.

If you read the interviews of GRRM, he said he had rewritten the latter part ADWD to recon with some of the cliff hangers in AFFC due to the long wait between the books and also to iron out some plot holes. We may know how the characters will interact with each other even though there is a huge distance between them. However, he has now said he has written too much and thus will shift some chapters to the next book again.

I'm somewhat disappointed or you can even say annoyed with this. I prefer to have lesser cliffhangers and a faster plot progression. Or at least not to wait for the 6th book to know what happened to the "cliffhangered" characters in book 4. This can be almost a 10 years wait.
