This will be the main thread for the 'Melbourne LAN'.
Thank you guys for discussing and showing interest in our organization of the Melbourne LAN Comp.

I, along with a few of my mates 'ToRDarkNoob' and 'FadeRedemption' have been busily organising a Starcraft 2 LAN tournament in the city of Melbourne. It has been clear that the Melbourne Starcraft 2 LAN scene has been lacking which has come to our attention. It has been decided that we as a team will be hosting our own Starcraft 2 LAN competition in the beautiful city of Melbourne in order to not only bring together the Starcraft 2 community but to promote E-sports.

This Event has already had its first large contribution by Xmoon for her generous donation towards the prize pool

With more possibilities to come in the near future.

Details
Date: 9th of September
Time: 10:30am – 7pm
Venue: MC Internet in Melbourne
Address: 41 A'beckett Street, Melbourne CBD (Location has been updated)
Sign up Fee: $20 ($10 goes to Venue) ($10 goes to Prize Pool) / Spectating is free

Format: Best of 3 Double elimination with the finals as a Best of 5, To be held in chat channel MelbourneLAN.

WCS Daybreak LE
WCS Ohana LE
WCS Antiga Shipyard
WCS Entombed Valley
WCS Shakuras Plateau
GSL Metropolis (Ladder edition)

-The loser of each game will select the following map.
-Before each match each player will take turns to veto two maps.
-The remaining maps will be played first.

Prizes

1st price: 50% of entry fee + $50 donation from Xmoon
2nd price: 30% of entry fee + $30 donation from Xmoon
3rd price: 20% of entry fee + $20 donation from Xmoon

Example of how prizes work:
35 people coming

1st place : $175 + $50 = $225

2nd place : $100 + $30 = $130

3rd place: $75 + $20 = $95

@Attzy, we expect people to get there by 10:30 so any on day sign ups can be added towards the bracket and finalized, games would probably start at around 11

It was a righteous day - a million thanks for organising this!

It's amazing how the Melbourne scene as grown and revitalised these past 18 months. There would have been triple the numbers participating today that we could have scrounged together last year. Can't wait for HotS to grow the scene even further!
