The matches are best of 5 (First to win 3), ProLeague format with an ace match. The lineups are submitted confidentially by team captains and the full lineups are published before the match day. A lineup will consist of four players to play a Bo3, and an ace player who can be any player, even one who has already played. Each of the teams play each other once in the round robin phase, before qualifying for an elimination playoff. All six teams will be involved in the playoffs for the finals with the bottom four seeds playing off in preliminary finals for the right to face the top two in the semi finals. All the the games will be ran simultaneously and streaming only done if both teams approve. The ACE match player can be any player in your roster and doesn't have to be determined until the time of the ACE match NOTE: PD teams must play at least 1 Platinum player.

Can we still play even if we haven't placed this season? I haven't done my placement match yet, but I've only ever been in Bronze, Silver or Gold, so can I still play or do we have to be in a league?
The reason I ask is that if I get placed into plat I won't be able to play in the BSG league
So the rules of ProLeague format are...
Match-ups one to four are each a best of 3 played at the same time by 4 different players from each team resulting in a four game scoreline and if the score is 2 - 2 an ace match is played to decide the outcome?
I am unfamiliar with the format so just trying to clarify it in my head before I let my players know what's going on.
Also, what is the decision on players who get promoted during the league?
If you say they can no longer continue in their starting team, I will be encouraging my players to stay away from ladder preventing this issue and keeping enough players for us to continue in the league.
Seems it would be a better rule to allow the players to continue in whatever team they are in for the first week maybe? (assuming that league is legit of course and obviously placement match for s8 must be played)
Sorry for the extra questions but lastly, what are the restrictions on BSG?
Do we have to have a certain number from and or should I tell those guys they're not required since I'd be afraid the other teams would just field golds?

Ok,
Q1) What you said is 100% correct and if it goes to Ace match it is considered a Minor Win
Q2) What ever league they start in in Round 1 will be the one they're in throughout the whole tourney, I don't want people playing less SC2 to play in this! S8 placement must be played though and obviously no ranking lowering on purpose.
Q3)BSG teams are pretty short on numbers so hopefully this isn't an issue but Ill change it like PD where 1 B/S must be played in the first game.

Talking with the WA guys who have some scheduling conflicts with this weekend - is there any rule regarding postponement? Can we organise to postpone matches between ourselves as long as we get the games completed by a certain day? If we can organise some postponed matches, I can submit a lineup tonight. Otherwise, it'll rely on my ability to contact everyone which I can't guarantee (if someone happens to not be online tonight)
Also just while I'm thinking about this sort of this, an issue that was found during SEACL - is there a substitution policy? Cana team sub someone in the event of a no-show?
I think we will just do walkovers but I will discuss it with the other admins later.
All the dates are getting pushed back one week as well so everything can be fully worked out and there is no rush.
OK well since we have time, I'll give my opinions from a player perspective
My vote is definitely to see every match get played wherever possible - I'd prefer reschedules in all cases rather than subs. I mean, sure there can be restrictions on subs so that the other team doesn't get disadvantaged, like either the sub must be a lower league than the player they replace, or the sub must be the same race. I'd really like it if every no-show was a default reschedule (which I think is the way it went in SEACL). There's inevitably the guy who loses power/internet drops out 15 mins before match time who just can't get on. While that sucks for his opponent who is online expecting a game, I think that person deserves the ability to basically pick the reschedule time rather than simply get a free win.
So player X is online waiting, his opponent player Y doesn't show. Y gets on and says "Sorry, crashed my car, had to get towed. I can play Monday 5pm, Tuesday 6pm or Wednesday 7pm". Player X gets the option to pick from all available times the one that best suits him, and if they can't agree, THEN player X gets awarded the walkover. It's not a perfect system, someone who really wants to take a w/o can just claim the times don't suit them, but I don't think many people have this kind of attitude, especially in the BSG tournament.
Winning by walkover isn't a fun way to win, and losing by walkover really stings everyone else on the team.
I agree with breadfan... I dont know how seriously everyone else is taking this, but I figure at our level we are playing for fun, and playing games rather then winning games is what its all about.
plus the fact that players are more casual at our level and there are guarenteed to be people who cant make it at the last minute each week.. I'd love to see a sub rule.
Agreed with both posts above.
Also, the trouble I went to to organise players for this Sunday only to find it's been postponed is a little annoying... but probably for the best

Why you say you've only received the Qld BSG lineup when I sent mine already as well?
=\
I sent mine days ago too :/

I know for a fact SA and QLD will be playing because we organised it ourselves going on the assumption it's the same state matchups as PD league.
I'm suggesting here that the other teams do the same (and I will send the captains a pm telling them that also) and hopefully next week we can get some more organised administration
EDIT: Sent a message to the captains I could work out. Not sure on them because the Captains post hasn't been updated. Sorry guys. Everyone please let your captain know to send in a team and contact the opposing captain if they can. I'll update captains here with links if I have any wrong and you want to post an update for me below...

This is true... here are the match details:
Time: 7PM AEST Server: SEA Channel: bsgpdsoo Report results to: Suipr (AsylumofSouls) (you can report results to me but I won't be available so it will have to be via PM)
Yeah WA is ready, we were told that we are vsing Qld. However our captain couldn't make it for whatever reason.
AsylumofSouls and I have had a small discussion which we'll talk to CombatEz about but we're thinking WA gets a BYE due to a major competition in WA. Don't know where the others stand, it's hard to comment on something I'm not organising.
I have seen so little information on this; happy to play in the P/D team for Vic but when I signed up it was interest only and haven't really heard anything more than that. Have been looking through thew posts and I can't see rosters and/or what weeks are to be played. As I said a while ago; I am happy to help admin this.
If the capt for P/D for VIC would like me to play can they please PM me or can somebody direct me to where I can find out this information.

Rosters (Still needs updating which is hard as the rosters are spread around in different threads etc so bear with me, if you wanted to help I don't see why all the people complaining haven't just taken some initiative and just gotten the layout and done the rosters themselves then PM'd them too me...) http://www.sc2sea.com/showthread.php?t=5088
If you want to help please just take some initiative rather than just constant whining.
How is me posting on this once constant whining? I was asking for information; I also pm'd one of the guys in the interest only thread asking if they needed help.
Don't get me wrong I can see that work that you are putting in and it's in the right direction, but accusing me of constant whining is a bit rich.
Tell me what haven't you done, and I will give you a hand no point in me going and re-creating the wheel when said wheel has already been created; I was merely avoiding stepping on toes.

That comment was definitely not aimed at you sorry. It was more aimed at AsylumOfSouls and I'm not sure if there is a communication issue but I feel as though every comment he makes targets and puts me down for my attempts at helping out.
As I mentioned the team rosters need to be done, here are the links I have down:
CombatEZ.
There are a lot of people frustrated at the complete lack of information about the league. Some of us go to a lot of trouble each week organising our teams only to find out there's no information anywhere on who we're playing, or even if we're playing at all.
None of the forum OPs are being regularly updated and when they are updated, often incorrect information is posted which is not helping the issue.
If you need help with administration, you would be better off asking the many people who have offered to help you and giving them jobs rather than having captains of teams decide this league is more trouble than it's worth which is definitely where this is heading.

I respect that heaps of people have offered to help and that people are busy just as I am but I am certain that I said many times which teams had sent their line ups and who hadn't and that if the team you are playing hasn't figure it out yet just try and organise it on the night...
I think your criticism is a little exaggerated, the only OP that was riddled with issues was the Teams OP but I have asked for help with it and I hope I receive some.
I'm sure you mean well but when you try and organise your first tournament to help out the community and stick your hand out there I am sure you wouldn't enjoy it when you have a constant negative attitude, especially from someone who labels themselves as someone dedicated to the BSG scene... Clearly you would have the most power and contacts to help set this up so what was stopping anyone from PMing the respective captains on the night and at least trying to organise a few games and then shooting me the results via PM...
No information? I am not sure where I left any team with 'absolutely no information' I tried my best to let the teams know what to do, who had sent their line ups etc, and all the captains names I had posted were correct so what was stopping anyone taking some initiative...

This is going to sound really harsh, but i have been polite up until this point, and having two players pull out of my team and the others still tossing up whether or not to play is where i'm going to have to pull out my nasty stick.
If you need help, ASK.
It isn't our responsibility as captains to organise your tournament. It's our responsibility to have our teams organised. I've had my team organised on both sundays that have just gone, only to find out that the team we were supposed to be playing was playing someone else, and that the other team that we could have played weren't online because they had no idea what was going on.
AsylumofSouls, myself and a couple of the other captains have a history in organising and running competitions. You have a crapload of experienced admins captaining teams, yet don't ask for help, so don't expect us (when some of us are super busy as well), to "take the initiative" and do your job for you. Our players look to us for the information, and when we can't provide it, it makes us look stupid. I don't like looking stupid. We have reputations as decent admins to preserve, and if things don't get better in the next week i'm pulling WA out of this.
I had supanova to go to in week 1 just like you did this week just gone past, yet i still managed to have my team organised and online ready to play. I worked a full time job, studied a degree, and still managed to be the community link for ESL when the SEA division was running a couple of months back. Don't whine about not having enough time, but don't ask for help.
Do your job and ask for help if things get tough, or handball it to someone who can.

No one is trying to diminish the work you are doing, however there has been a lot of confusion amongst the teams and players.
These threads are where we as captains refer back to and refer our players to, to know whats going on and if they are wrong its really hard for us to get the correct information at a moments notice. And once the official information is incorrect, you have mis-information spreading fast throughout the players and captains.
It leaves us as captains in a hard spot, because its already not easy to get a group of people together who aren't in the same teams/clans/circles, but then we also have to start making guesses and admin calls. Especially when we had no admin present for the first round.
I know you've said you were busy, hey that happens and I know you are doing this out of your own time, but so are the captains. I definitely think we should look at getting someone to help admin this with you, having it all in one persons hands is
a) a lot of work
b) means that if you can't make a night, or get busy, no ones effectively there for quick responses.
And the longer we have to wait to get answers to questions, the harder it is for us to pick a team or to get games happening.
I really hope you dont take this all the wrong way, we all wants this to be a success and we all really appreciate the effort you have put in. But the overall opinion Ive heard so far is that people are really confused and that will quickly lead to a lack of interest because its "too hard". And that would be a shame after all the lead up work.
