Q. What are the mechanics of the tournament?
A. For the first round, there will be 'Pool' matches. The number of pools and players in each pool will depend on the total number of players. Players in the pool will have one game each against each other. The player(s) with the most wins in each pool will move onto the next round. The rounds that follow the 'Pool' matches are 'Best of 3' knockout. The finals will be a 'Best of Five'. All games will be played on the NA server (due to less lag than on SEA at the venue).
Unless you have been eliminated, you cannot watch a game from the same division as you are participating in (this is to prevent learning your potential opponent's strategies).
Q. What if I don't have an NA account but have a SEA account?
A. You will be using one of SkyNet's StarCraft accounts (NA server), but you will still need to log into your SEA account before your first match to verify your division eligibility.
Q. What is the map pool?
A. The map pool will be in the MLG format:
• MLG Antiga Shipyard
• MLG Dual Sight
• MLG Metalopolis
• MLG Shakuras Plateau
• MLG Shattered Temple
• MLG Tal'Darim Altar
• MLG Xel'Naga Caverns
Q. How are the maps for each round decided?
A. Players can veto up to 2 maps for each round. Maps for 'Pool' matches will be selected at random (excludes vetoed maps). In 'Best Of Three' matches, each player will choose one map to play (excludes vetoed maps) and the third map is chosen at random (excludes vetoed maps). A coin toss will be used to determine which player chooses the map for the first round of three.
Q. Can I just come to watch and not participate?
A. Yes, as long as you do not interfere with any of the games in any way (else we reserve the right to escort you off the premises). We ask that you make a gold coin donation upon entry, all proceedings will go to our charity.
Q. Can I enter if I don't have an account?
Yes, but you are not eligible for division #2 & division #3.
Q. To be eligible for participation in a division, what criteria must I meet?
1 - Have your own battle.net account
2 - Have your real name match the name associated with your battle.net account (this is to make sure you are not using your friend's account).
3 - Be in a 1v1 league that isn't in Masters or Grandmasters.
Q. What if I'm in Gold league for SEA and Platinum for NA?
You will be considered as Platnium. The league you will be considered as (for the purposes of the tournament) will be the league that is higher. If you object to this idea, then please post below, alternative suggestions will be considered.
Q. May I bring my own equipment (i.e. Keyboard/Mouse/Headphones)?
A. Yes, as long as it is not able to aid in cheating in any way.
Q. When do registrations close?
A. End of Wednesday 1st February. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate for late registrations and need time to prepare individualized name tags (which will include things such as your in game name).
Cheating will not be tolerated. Using bugs is prohibited. We reserve the right to disqualify anyone upon the suspicion that they are cheating or for bad behavior / poor sportsmanship near or that of serious nature.
